Mosul Citizens Protest Against Insurgency
(Al-Ittihad) For the first time, hundreds of Qayara citizens of Mosul have demonstrated to protest the insurgency. More than 1,500 civilians and military personnel from different villages south of Mosul gathered in Qayara city to denounce the insurgency that is overwhelming Iraq. The demonstration comes at the initiative of clerics, Imams, and government officials who feel the necessity to announce their stance against terrorism. They want to prove that most Iraqis oppose terrorism, which will be defeated by the will of Iraqis.

Iraqis protest terrorism

HILLAH, Iraq - Thousands of mostly black-clad Iraqis protested Tuesday outside a medical clinic where a suicide car bomber killed 125 people a day earlier, braving the threat of another attack as they waved clenched fists, condemned foreign fighters and chanted "No to terrorism!"

Al-Sistani is the leading Shi'ite cleric of course. The Shi'ites WILL have the political power since they do consist of 60% of the Iraqi population but Sistani has also been a good friend to the Kurds and the Sunnis. He has encouraged both factions to be part of the process not to mention he put the boot down on Al-Sadr! :DQuote:
