What's the biggest purpose of bending and tying down? I've never found that out.
Bending does two things...
1. It exposes the stem and all secondary growth to light. If you let the plant grow straight up, you'll get one good cola at top and the rest will be tiny little buds from the main stem growth node sites.....thats it.
You want to develop, during veg, as many grow shoot sites as possible. These grow shoots will flower into nice bud. So, you want as many developed, mature shoots as possible to maximize the harvest yield.
2. Bending the main stem will force the same changes in cellular strength that blowing a fan on the plants will do. Except because it is so extreme, the entire plant will benefit as the plant releases hormones that cause the plant to thicken and grow.
Attached is my Whore at 28 days from top....
Notice how there is really only ONE bud shoot...the main cola. She is thick enuff to generate more, but primarily that cola would be prolly 40% of the bounty.
The second pic, is my same Whore, same view, 8 days later. Notice how many more future bud sites there are?
It is the development of as many growth shoots as possible that you I am after.
I could have done so much more with her had I did this around day 21..... :(
But live and learn and keep on HAPPY GROWING :)
