Why in the world would you have them on a 12/12 light cycle from the beginning, especially from seed? Shoot, I can't believe they even grew! And to answer your question, the term "budding" is used because the plant starts growing buds, no longer branches. As for my setup, I'll be posting a grow log soon so you can see it there.... I'll be happy to answer any of your questions but YOU have got some reading to do!!!!

For now, if I were you I would switch the light to 18/6 and let them vegetate like they should. Or start all over with new seeds. Either way, it's going to be at least three months before you see buds....

Read these and allot of ??? will be answered. Btw you prob will be starting over pretty soon but in the mean time put light on 18/6 and drip for like 15 mins every 4/6 hours.

A little more info...and it all became clear.

What you thought was bud sites are actually called pre-flowers. At least the ones with the preflowers are female, no preflowers and they will be male.

When talking about CFL's use the wattage that they actually consume NOT the incandescent watt/ lumen equivalent. That becomes a double useless number.

I asked what you were growing in, I meant growing medium not container. It looked like backyard dirt. Seeing the book you are using as a guide, that explains the dirt and fish emulstion. Both OK outdoors, heck I've used fish emulstion for many years outdoors but there are better mediums and nutrients for indoors.

Virtually all seeds being sold are hybreds, the question is indica or sativa dominate. Unless the seed dealer is offering landrace varieties.

I am willing to bet that when you were in school (you probably still are) you were too lazy to do your homework.
I also think that we are helping a pimplely faced teenager with his first grow, that does not make me comfortable.

ight 1st off.. no teenager.. im 23.. 2nd of all this my 1st grow.. i had 2 bubba kush seeds and didnt want them 2 go 2 waste thats why i planted them. 3rd i didnt do em for 12 12.. i did em for 12 12 once i thought they where budding. which now i kno there flowering and theres a difference. in the begining stage when it was a baby seed i had da light on almost all the time jst like the book says. i will take a picture of my whole set up and post it but remember its my 1st time so dnt expect me 2 know everything. im doing my research and my plants are actually comming out beautiful. i forgot all of you where born knowing how 2 grow plants lmaooo

1 book is better than nothing, but a wise man has MANY counselors...don't make the mistake I did when new and try to do it as one book says (there was only one book back then, LOL!), but read them all and make your grow work with bits and pieces from all the info you have available.
