the act of LST or topping itself doesn't make your buds more dense or potent. and there is a lot more that goes into it than just light. i can accomplish the same thing with side lighting and no LST or topping. your environment and nutrient regiment are just as important as light.

I got a disappointing 1.5 oz's, shake

You are right about the environment and nute regi - that's why I've made drastic changes this time around(switched to hydro, new nute line, more veg/flower time, careful supplement planning). I think I should be increasing yield by 50-75% with these changes. However, I cannot upgrade my 150w at this time. But I believe LST'ing is still a strong point in my methodology in that picture.

1.5 oz isnt bad at all!!

heres a few pics of my tie downs....using fishing wire with a loose slipknot

cardboard is there so the plants dont sit in the hydroton

i had to remove one because it was male, the replacement i had growing for a few weeks in rockwool....i took it out of the rockwool and placed it straight in the hydroton - what is the difference between putting it straight in the hydroton vs rockwool in hydroton?




...figures the biggest plant in my set up was a boy :(

you don't need to use rockwool with hydroton. most people use RW to start clones (or beans). there are a lot of inherent issues with RW. you have to pre-soak, it retains moisture heavily, it can cause your pH to keep running up and they can grow fungus/mold....but you obviously can't start straight in hydroton. i would suggest rapid rooters. they work wonderfully, no pre-soak, allow tons of air to get to roots.

it usually works out this way. males tend to grow bigger, faster, stronger, which makes sense as you need to have the males and their pollen ready before the females flowers are ready.

Yeah buddy! I've got 3 White Widow girls that were the same height of 20 inches when I topped two of them hoping for more yield, but my mind's been changed! The untopped has been trained sideways and has some monster lower branches (after being more exposed?), while the other two look like shrubs. The untopped lady looks like she'll easily produce more than the other two combined!!
