Been eating raw cannabis for years with no known ill effects.
Has been common knowledge for as long as I can remember. Of course, never listening to the insight of those before me, I tried a few times.
Some say they can get medicated by eating it raw. But I've been smoking pot for over 35 years, and eating it raw tastes nasty, and it never provided a buzz. I used to nibble on stems, and occationally still do use 'em for toothpicks on occation, but after a bunch of us ate about an 1/8 oz each of Columbian Gold a couple of decades ago and getting nothing from it, I never had the desire to repeat the expensive and nasty event. The party would have been a bore were it not for a friend with some Mexican dirt weed, which finally provided a few of us a buzz.
Eating cannabis raw
From the article:
"One of the drawbacks of eating marijuana leaf is the common complaint of stomach irritation. The top side of cannabis leaves are coated with thousands of microscopic thorns, and these sometimes cause minor intestinal irritation, even after grinding. For some patients, the use of leaf in Mari Pills is not tolerable, and in such cases, the use of buds alone, without the addition of leaf, is preferred. Note: the small leaves found in the marijuana flower tops are not as difficult to digest as the large "fan" leaves that grow from the stems. Also, the small bud leaves are far more potent than the larger leaves required for photosynthesis. As a general rule, the smaller leaves growing closest to the flower tops are closest to the plant's resin glands, and therefore have the greatest amount of medicinal compounds."

Sorry to take so long to respond to this thread, haven't been around for a while and couldn't remember where this was posted. I guess it was about at my 35 year mark of smoking weed that a coworker turned me on to the concept of just eating it raw. I too believed it was common knowledge that it wouldn't work, but after hearing his experience (too long to explain) I thought it would be an easy and inexpensive thing to experiment with. I have to confess that my results have been inconsistent but it has certainly gotten me pleasantly stoned on countless occasions. The key factors that I think make a difference are very dry weed and a relatively empty stomach. Or I have enjoyed eating it in the mornings following a modestly greasy breakfast of an egg cooked in butter and buttered toast. Or mixed into a cup of yogurt (think fat). I have also just torn a small joint into baby aspirin size pieces and swallowed them.
