Is that rockwool to drenched? should that rockwool be exposed? Trying to learn these techniques...
I haven't had any problems. The rockwool will spread fluids all over itself and stay pretty wet. Also it doesnt really matter if you have the rockwool sticking out quite a bit because all it is there for is to hold the small plant in place. Once the roots get through the hydroton the rockwool is pretty much obsolete.Quote:

might want to get a layer of tron over the top of the RW when they get a little bigger. exposure to light may grow algae.

I've got some small Styrofoam bowls to cut to put around the plants once they get another week or so old I guess I could do it now since they are already pretty tallQuote:

what all ligts are on now
the cfls are 68w true or 300w equivalent 2700k spectrum and they are set about 8-10 inches off the top of the tub. i wanted to do a mix of the spectrum but im fairly limited to what the local stores have to offer.Quote:

again i am limited to lights so i have to make due with what i have. and im already a little over budget.
No, your lights sound fine
I agree w/ holding off on the MH just yet, but just wanted to know if you could get the CFL and tops of plants within 3"-5" of each other? They look kinda far in the pic.
i made 4 settings in my box for easy light position change. when i first had the seeds in there i wanted to keep it up high because i hadnt had my fans yet and was afraid of cooking them. i lowered them quite a bit but i dont think the 2700spectrum is producing enough light for them and they are trying to reach for it a little too much.Quote:

only one of the plants is exceptionally taller than the rest, which makes me think already it could be a male. but hopefully all of them are girls and one is just a little taller and lankier than the rest of them.
this is my first hydro grow so im not overly worried about yields. i just want to get comfortable with this before i move onto harder strains to grow. so far it isnt near as bad as i thought it was going to be. but the plants are still young and not eating and drinking much yet.
