When over 50% of the pistils (hairs) growing on the bud change color, you can harvest. That is the method I use. They usually turn a brown or orange color depending on the strain. Some get pink, purple, and even red.
See all the brown hairs on her? Over 50%. She is ready. :thumbsup:

thats pretty much completely wrong.
You check the TRICHOMES to look for ripeness not the pistils. Some strains hairs go orange LONG before harvest time. Not good advice at all. Get a scope and check the trichs. clear not ready, cloudy and amber color are ready.
by the way your bud looks great for being new at it.
