yeah he cant use crystals now unless he does dig his plant up,but if you dig about 6 inches around the the plant, and put the crystals in they should work, never tried it this way but worth a shot, because the roots where grow towards the water i would think..

Hey man i told ya it would work:thumbsup:ya need to send me a half now, lol. And yeah you could top it now, but if your bending it i might fim it as you will get more tops. I got 7 last year and the plant luved it too. Just cut the very new growth on top of the plant or use the search option in here if your not familiar with the method.
Glad it worked man, oh an like 86 said you should put mulch around it to keep the moister in the ground, this should help even more to keep them moist.

mulch is an excellent idea thank you! im not gonna top it or bend it just to see what happens. i did see a few shitty leaves on the bottom area so i plucked em away. thanks for all the advice and shit for such a simple grow op. i love this site!:hippy:

i have 1 other question. ive been learning as much as i can about fimming and cant figure out y u WOULD NOT want to do it everytime. if it double, triples, or quadrupples the main colas, y wouldnt everybody want to do that everytime? i ponder. thanks.

because ive found the LST and bending them over worked better for me.
FIM doesnt triple the amount of colas your plant has, it just makes 1 or 2 extra growing shoots pop up. Everytime you top or fim a growing shoot the 2 nodes right under it grow faster. If you Fim Correctly you can get 3 or 4 shoots , instead of just 2.
but like i said personally i dont like to cut any of my plants. I just gently bend them over when i feel they need it. I want as little stress upon them as i possibly can give them.

id really like to try the LST but since this is my first grow id like to see how it naturally grows to get a better understanding of how it will look and first hand experience.
trial and error are my best friends.

Man i fimed this plant last year, here is a pic of what it did for me, 7 tops, which iv already took in this pic. I should have waited, but as you see i cut off the tops thinking it would help the rest of the plant, but i should have just let them go, they would have been much bigger in the end. I like the fim a lot man.

o man those plants look very nice!
but the question still remains...is fimming/topping always the best thing to do when considering yield and quality?
because from what ive read people always realate it to "keeping it low". ive got plenty of space and privacy and sun hours are at a maximum. should i want to fim it even if height isnt an issue? where does letting it grow naturally benefit? even when it comes to LST...does it benefit in any way to NOT do LST? i understand these are questions that i could eventually find out myself but i may as well use this internet machine for good :D

Some plants respond well to topping and training, while others will produce more when left alone. It's a matter of many smaller buds or fewer large main colas. It may also be a matter of laziness sometimes haha. If a plant grows to its full potential it can get pretty branchy without topping anyway. I for one prefer the christmas-tree look :D
