Never have been gutsy enough for outdoors work. Will vouch for the tying them over method when they get too big for their britches. I assume your plants are in bloom now considering the time of year. If this be true I would not cut around on it other than to clip off "half" a fan leave if its directly blocking a lower bud from the light. Seen them doing that trick on TV at a commercial grow in Canada I think. So that has to be the right way to do it:) Swear those plants was 8 to 10 feet tall. Now some do take clones in bloom so there are exceptions to the no cut in bloom rule. For indoor hobbyists its hard to beat the cheap Neem oil combo Fungi/Pesti cide from Wally World. Also the pyrethrine based house and garden insecticide. Try not to hit the blooms directly with the spray. Great growing to you.

not flowering yet, haven't even been able to sex them. one looks like it's got female traits, but not 100% sure yet. i was looking at some pics of last years grow and they didn't start to bud until sometime in late August. i'll post some more pics soon.Quote:

I use Azamax mixed with SM-90 and RO water, every 7-10 days. Halfway between applications, I've used Safer's vegetable spray (insecticidal soap) for whiteflies (OMRI listed, organic). And I'm using BT (also from Safer, a little bitty $12/13 bottle of caterpillar/worm killer) every 3 weeks to prevent just about all worms.Quote:

well, out of 9 healthy plant, i'm down to 4, the others were male. right now 2 of them are getting close to flowering, lots of white hairs. but the weird thing is that 2 of them (one is my best looking) have shown NO signs of sex. the best one is a bush, with lots of healthy looking branches, and there is a slight "nub" where the male/female parts will be, but they stay so small there's no way to tell. seems like by now they would give me a clue, specially since there are the 2 that are starting to bloom.
i'm keeping my fingers Xed, because if they are all girls, i'll have enough to give some away.

here are a few shots of how the grow is going. the first 2 pics are to show size.tying them down really helped. but the weird thing is the plants in the second pic have been flowering for about 2 weeks or so. the plants in the second pics, look healthier, but so far i have not seen 1 pestil.they have the little sacks that the pestils come out of but none have emerged yet.
the 3rd shot shows the top of a branch of one of the no pestil plants. it looks like it trying to flower, but where are the pestils??
the 4th pic shows a bud forming on one of the flowering plants. the buds look small for this time of year. we've had a cooler than usual summer with a couple of really hot spells.
i'm wondering if all the messing around with the non-pestil plants, getting them tied down caused them to freak out and not flower?? didn't have to do as much tying to the ones that ARE budding.
what do you think?
BTW, just in case there are any narks out here, this is a LEGAL GROW.
good things are happening
Some pure Sativas will only flower when they reach a certain age. The are native to the tropics, and do not react to a shortened photoperiod since all they've ever known are 12 hour days and nights.Quote:
