No way, that's a great question, and one that I'm not sure I have a great answer for. Obviously it's not ideal, but it shouldn't dramatically effect the quality. Another big thing is to make sure the buds are properly cured to avoid gray mold. Hygrometers are relatively cheap and can provide a lot of peace of mind.

So you vote no on any refrigeration or freezing then?

Don't freeze! Frozen trichomes break off and can be lost. If you can't store them in a cool place, then a refrigerator is fine. If your jars aren't opaque, place them in a brown paper bag to help with the light.

Burp your jars periodically!

Thanks! I've read conflicting things about frozen trichnomes. Does freezing them break them off or just loosen them from the bud? Reason I ask is, if I don't bump the jars/buds around will the trichs stay in place?

Ok, this may sound like another stupid question. I assume you mean to change out the air in the jars occasionally. What does this do?

It'll make them brittle, which almost inevitably leads to breakage. There really isn't any advantage to freezing.:thumbsup:

Burping is beneficial for osmosis. It draws moisture from the cell structures of your buds making sure it is dry.

Hey cool thanks.

I think my preliminary solution will be to try lots of 4oz mason jars (approx 2"x2") and a punch/valve device (pump-n-seal) that will supposedly allow me to pump all of the air out of the jars.

Overkill, maybe, but some threads on chowhound have helped to convince me that this may be the way to go. You know how picky those foodies can be:thumbsup:

if the herb is just how you like it, jarred in the fridge is good for 6 months+

If you like your herb a little damper, this is the only way to go (not too damp)
