"chronic"les of a rookie

i have another little question. a friend of mine who seems like a pretty credible person, has told me that miracle grow has some sort of weed killer in it that will kill the marijuana plant at some point (since its a weed).

yet a lot of the mixtures that i have read about for soil contain miracle grow and some also say that using that alone with no additives should work just fine as well.

im a bit scared that he might be right about this "weed killer" in miracle grow, but the plants look so healthy right now and i just dont want to re-plant them again in some other soil if not necessary.



so. should i stay away from miracle grow as a soil?

ok so i know im posting a lot here in my thread with no replys unfortunately.. but the plants have gotten to be pretty big. i think i can now sex them but again im not sure. i got ur help with the first post and figured out that it was way to early to sex them. well i got some macro's of the branch spots. i THINK and hope that these are signs of female plants. any thoughts?

Your friend is not credible. I mean he/she doesn't know anything about growing by stating something that dumb. Don't listen to idiots just learn by reading grow logs on here where your able to read a log and go back and review where they think they went wrong and how they fixed different things. You will absorb actual knowledge from people who don't talk but do. And soon enough you will know what works for you based on your own experience.

I don't like Miracle grow soil but it will work just fine. I like to feed my plants nutes based on when they tell me they need something. MG with nutes is something I would only ever mix into a few mediums together to get what I want. The organic stuff is good for someone who is beginning to grow if your without access to other options IMO. Some people try to feed plants way to early and because Miracle Grow that feeds for 3 or 9 months is what some people use they can over feed and kill their plants. If you use common sense and back off the nutes until farther into the grow it works just fine IMO. I like promix and foxfarm and happy frog soil, but you can use damn near anything as long as you have an extra helping of common sense.

Oh and when your 3-4wks in, your plants will then be mature enough to show sex. Some faster or slower then other strains. There are some closeups of Preflowers in my logs as well as tons of others on here take a peek. Your pics show nothing regarding sex or even type of MJ you have. You need to either hop into a time machine going forward three or four weeks or just sit down and smoke one and chill out. Your pics show usual vegetation. do you think MJ is a plant that is a main stick with just leaves? Branches my friend there the beginning of a plant that is going from seedling to a plant nothing more. I would like you to read thru the faq and growing basic stickies on this site....if you do I doubt you will have many questions until your plants stink like a raccoon humped a bag of fruit! Miriacle death or grow has got a bad name because it is very easy to get. It is everywhere. So peeps use it. The problem is small plants are put right straight into MG and water the hell out of it and release abunch of fertilizer and burn up little young plants. Such a shame no one knows how the harden off thier plants.

frostedwonder is right, you gotta chill out. Growing takes a lot of patience, especially using cfl's, which i assume you are using. you'll need a lot of them to see any result that is worthwhile.

As for sexing, If your plants aren't in the flowering stage, you shouldn't see sex unless it's an autoflowering strain. yours is not. you can take cuttings from the plant, root them, and put them in a separate room under a 12/12 cycle to sex them before flowering. otherwise, you're just going to have to wait! When the time is right for sexing, there will be almost no doubt what sex they are. If you are unsure, wait until you are sure. You don't need to pull males the second the pollen sack starts to protrude, and in fact, doing so may cause you to accidentally pull a female.
