I think I see what's happening here. If you've seen both of the legislative proposals I've seen (Romer's and what I've seen called the "law enforcement" proposal, which I think came from the county sheriffs of Colorado, and by the way, why do they need their own lobbyists?) you know that of the two, the latter is by far scarier. I'm starting to think this is intentional. What if the plan all along was to try to gain the support of our community by having a proposal up for consideration at the same time as Romer's that is so draconian and so obviously designed to wipe out MMJ as a business that Romer's looks good (well almost) by comparison? Wouldn't surprise me a bit.
People, DON"T BE FOOLED. Demand from your legislators an explanation of why any regulation is needed at all. I have not heard a cogent argument for this at all. Lots of hand-wringing and bare statements that "something must be done" but no actual reasons why. Anytime our illustrious lawmakers, state or federal, start saying that they are bout to fuck something up or screw somebody (in this case both). The first thing they must always convince us of is why is not the best thing to do nothing? What is the harm that is sought to be addressed? Show me some examples of the "crisis" you claim exists.
Then and only then, if you actually believe that there is a problem ( which in this case I most certainly do not, but I suppose reasonable people could disagree) should solutions be discussed. Then, remember that the choices of regulatory approaches are limitless, and we are not limited to the two discussed above. If they cannot agree on a plan that does not cause more harm than good, which every proposal I've seen so far would do, they should DO NOTHING, not do something just to be seen to do something. That government governs best that governs least.

all of these politicians, leo, city officials and the justice system (what a joke, its just a business now,can you say confict of interest) have all forgotten their place and who they work for. little more than thieves, sellouts, and traitors. all of their hoopin and hollerin is just to keep the dwindling number of nay sayers brainwashed at how bad mmj is. the dea has done its own studies that completely refutes all of their proganda and still they insist pressing foward. now our locals gotta follow suit and walk around touting ignorant claims as fact.even our newspaper and news stations present mj in a negative light referring to it as POT. never do they mention how it slows or even halts the growth rate of some cancers and tumors. or how in a study where alcohol and mj were consumed the mj seemed to protect brain cells a little bit from the ravages of alcohol. or that mj smoker actually tend to get higher air volume ratio in their lung, breathe deep hold hold try not to choke hold contolled exhale with watery eyes:). never hear any benefits just bad publicity. freedom of speech im beginning to wonder.

Sorry palerider, wasn't meaning to criticize. My paranoia level isn't much, if any, lower than yours. Remember, sometimes, paranoia is just good sense. And just because we are paranoid doesn't mean that they aren't out to get us.

Beware of Regulations, every action has a re-action, Don't let Romer screw this up for the rest of the State because of his imaginary problems that seem to much to do specifically with the Denver scene. Every community in Colorado is unique and should not be subjected to regulations designed for a big city problem. Keep regulation local if you must, but please don't be so hasty to give up your constitutional rights we all fought so hard to secure.

Actually the city of Denver has its own regs in the works. The rest of the state always gets saddled with legislation meant to address problems limited to urban areas. It has always been that way.
