Hi all!!!
I think you have a PH problem.
I am not a big hydro grower, I only grow 1 plant hydro.
I disagree with PhatOptimo on the bucket though. :D
I use a pump and spray system in 5gal bucket.
I never check PPM. just use Fox Farm Nutes and CalMag, I use recommended amounts of liquids and 1/2 str. dry nutes. I only PH the nute to 6.0 and let her go. I use about 3Gal. week, lately I add water on day 5 if pump starts sucking air. I use a rinky-dink time with 5 min. on 15 min. off.
I would probably do better if I had a good system, but the bucket works pretty good and is real easy.
Good Luck
My ph is regularly checked and it's between 5.4 and 5.7
well just from the pics it looks like ph spotting and mag deff, your magnese might be adding to the funky brown spotting.
could you elaborate a little on Ph spotting, whats the cause? rapid swing, too high, to low ??
I adjust daily if ness. try for 5.8
also fed more CaMg than usual, and no noticable benifit
this has really got me banging my head
ph spotting g is the plants first attempt to let u know there is a problem,it can look like small yellow and brown sploches showing up in various places,it is then usually acompanied by minor leave twisting and then the usual fringe patterns around the leaf edges,.i am auctually battling this verry problem my self,my hydroten didnt soak long enough and keeps getting maddddd ph creep,
now we are getting some where! I had soaked the hydroton (as usual) but had to put it into use before the 4 days normal soak time at Ph 5.4 .
is it posibable that this is the problem?? upward drifting Ph
if so what did that do lock out the Mg?
the problem with ph being to high and low is that it makes the plants basic living elements unavailable, its kinda like being stuck in the desert with out water, your still alive but are dehydrated and sick.different ph levels lock out different micro nutes and metals that are normaly available.i have to add a gallon cap of ph down every day in order to stay at a between 5.5-6. it will creep up to a cool 7 with 6 waterings per day at 15 min intervuls, and i only use hydroten and one rapid rooter to get em started.
I agree with Daddynobucks keep the ph at 5.8 not 5.4 too low. I am in DWC with lots of airstones water at 68 and have no spots at all. Green as can be. I switched to House and Garden from GH and love it so far.
Sir...It is time to flush. Give it a week of flush, and then add nutes again. You keep treating problems, and not allowing sufficient time for the plant to adjust and let you know that you fixed the issue.
Your PH level is waaaaay to low for these girls. Your PPM is good for veg (but the new grow is rather light)...This makes me concerned for your overall PH stability due to the fluctuations. This will cause the plants to get the copper spots...yellowing and burnt tips etc.
To put it bluntly, you are suffering from lockout. Flush your res...give it a 3 days to one week of flush...and then add new water and nutes. Instead of looking for an explanation, you should be eliminating the variables.
Good luck...and I am sure they will come out of this funk!
