If some ppl think it helps, that's fine, but I think it's kind of like a placebo affect of sorts. There's also "the pill", which apparently works wonders, too. But I might actually believe that one, never know with hormones. Kind of curious to try it. Also, aspirin will turn a plant male in a hurry, though that's not usually helpful.
sorry, bud, but I can't disagree stronger :wtf: ... I guarantee, blackstrap molasses DOES produce bigger, denser buds  ... I don't recommend things, unless I've done 'double-blind studies' on it ... after growing indoors for over 40 years, and concentrating on only a handful of strains, trust me, if there's any improvement, I'll notice it :D ... I used to think it was only feeding the beneficial bacteria, but Stinky Attic (who is a chemist, among other things), explained it as a carbon-linked improvement ... I couldn't explain it like she did, I ain't a chemist ... but, if you're buying carbo loaders, etc., you're wasting your money, molasses does the same thing, near as I can tell ... and, I only have used it indoors, I would suspect that it 'may', indeed, attract insects ... also, I wouldn't use it as a foliar spray, as I think it might clog the pores ... I have used it in hydro, with no problems, whatsoever ... :smokin:

Thanks for all the info, guys, sounds like a good source of micronutes. In my 8 years I haven't used many additives, I prefer the natural way and always have a good harvest and tall plants (9-14ft.), but I grow in the blackdirt valley. I had heard of using molasses, but thought it sounded kind of odd, kind of like superstition. Ed Rosenthal wrote in Marijuana Question: Ask Ed "the sugar in molasses would never pass from the soil into the roots". I'm kind of a bookworm and info nut, but I may try it as you guys seem to swear by it. Anyway, thanks again, guys. If it works, I'm never too proud to admit I'm wrong. Peace.

hey, no prob, it's all about questions, answers, and opinions, etc :D ... in all fairness though, it was Ed Rosenthal's ex-writing partner, Mel Frank, that was the botanist, and 'brains' of the team  but, most of his writings are way over my head, Rosenthal is much easier to understand ... Rosenthal was more the 'publicist-promoter' of the pair ... :smokin:

First Molasses booster I've seen that actually tried it in a double-blind, (details?).
You know that I'm a skeptic 'bout most everything, yah?
Did a double-blind with Superthrive and found it to be worthless!
I was about to set-up 4 clones for a molasses test. 2 with, 2 without.
But, "Your words have Iron".
I'll add some blackstrap to one of the G13s and sorta ease into it. ;-}
Aloha

Hey Weezard,
You really need to do an experiment. You know, maybe side by side, one with and one without.
A bunch of us would love to see that.:jumphappy:

Il just say i grow outside and use it at least twice a week and if it rains il use it 3 X per week. Also, iv moved from 1 tbls to close to two tbls per gallon and they love it. Im using it more now then i do the ferts, because of budding. Just unsure it, the ferts will make my buds taste bad:thumbsup::rasta:
Oh and no more bugs then there were before i started to use it:smokin:

"Also, iv moved from 1 tbls to close to two tbls per gallon and they love it."
Thanks, brah but all that tells us, is that it does not hurt.:D
I can truthfully say; " I added no molasses to my ladies and they love it"
See what I mean?
Your girls might just be loving the attention.
Your growing skills improve with time, and your plants should flourish with only basic care and feeding.
When they look good, it's quite common to attribute that to the last additive or procedure. Kinda like a "lucky shirt" " Every time I wear this shirt, my team wins!!!" :wtf:
We're looking for a second party to do a double-blind to mirror mine.:weedpoke::weedpoke:
Always best to have mo' dan one test.
Want at least 4 clones, (cuttings, really), then we want to add molasses to 2 of 'em and the same amount of plain water to the others.
Then take some photos and post 'em here.
No stories, assumptions, pre-judgement, testamonials, BS, or wish-it-were-so.
Just da facts!:detective1:
Are you willing to volunteer fo' dat?
Anyone else?
Aloha

Well Weezard you are right about your statement regarding how i said it works for me. My plants health overall have been good without it, but there still green. I guess thats how i got my answer. I am not ready for indoor grow but would like to be involved. I need to get a setup going inside and if im ready by the time the test starts, i would be in. Thanks for giving me another way of looking at judging new additive though. Its a new perspective i should keep with me:thumbsup:
I will be indoor this year. Sometime after outdoor grow is finished, but dont wait on me:thumbsup::rasta:
I will need the out come for sure. I guess that gives incentive:D
