EMERGENCY. BRANCH GONE?

Right on man !Maybe I don't know what im doing.....maybe I DO....The post was asking for help with a problem and I encounter this all the time... Am I doing something wrong....?Most all the branches on MY plants produce between a quater and a half pound...That is alot of weight to hold up...I HAVE to support all branches with supplemental supports .Wher I live the wind blows all the time HARD.The mountains produce the downdrafts that are really destructive on the garden....The thing about growing is what works for me doesnt work for you and vice versa....I have 30+ years growing.Are YOU an outdoor grower??? Lets see todays photos of your garden!! Heres mine .....Havent seen many pictures of your OUTSIDE stuff....Please share!I dont claim to know it all about growing I can only say what works for ME! PEACE........

lol...whatever. I am refering to the answer you gave in helping this guy keep his branch. Your answer can risk the branch and worst-case...the plant. My answer allows the plant to heal quicker and keeps the crap out of the wound till it's healed. (or didn't you notice it's near the base...just above the dirt???)
Doing nothing is not an answer, it's a cop-out. I'm sure you don't mind your branches laying on the ground collecting insects and mold or dirt splashing the wound when the plant get's rained on or watered. But I guess you cash-croppers have it all figured-out. :thumbsup:

Tiz the same advise I'd give an indoor grower with regards to care and maintenance of our plants. Ignoring the problem is usually a bad idea.

Yo waterdog beautiful fucking crop! Nicely taken photographs as well. I highly appreciate your advise as a fellow outdoor cultivator. Obviously you prop the branch, depending on the branch size how much you prop it is subjective. I would assume in some cases its better just to leave it. Intuitively, and as a outdoor grower of 6 years, I pretty much knew the answer to this, just wanted to know if anyone knew of a "solution" to apply to a plant wound like this that helps it heal. Not a solution to the problem.

uhhh, not to be rude, but all you have to do is drop some seeds in the ground (assuming the proper nutrients are there) add light and water. through the summer the plant grows, it reproduces and drops seeds......next spring it happens again. that's kinda the way nature works. if i'm not mistaken cannabis has been around for at least 10,000 years. any a$$hole (not aimed at your or waterdog) can do this.

now, throw those same beans in a pot under a lamp inside. what type of lamp? what color temp? how far away? what temp? humidity? what soil? what nutes? when to feed? which water do i use? what pH? etc, etc. the list goes on. now throw that potter on the patio (make sure it's watered) and it grows. bring it back in, it dies. so indoors one must master every aspect of a grow to get great results. outside, not so much. as a matter of fact, you are at Mother Nature's will.

again, not aimed at you or waterdog. and i understand some of the indoor factors do apply to the outdoors, but hardly have the same impact as they do indoors. it would be a lot harder for an outdoor grower to step indoors than an indoor grower out, IMHO.

i have not had the chance to grow outdoors yet. can't wait to give it a go though! do i wish i could grow cannabis outdoors. hell yes! why wouldn't i want to? free lighting which just so happens to also be the best. free medium. ideally minimal maintenance. bigger yields (although a much longer wait and only one crop a year). although, unless you are putting clones into the ground indoor growers (that clone obviously) have a better consistency with genetics.

I am very new to growing so I probably shouldnt be saying anything... but I agree with Headshake... Took me 3 attempts and countless hours of reading and questions to finally get a girl to thrive indoors... Where as me and a friend dug out some grass in a field and planted some seeds and the 6 girls are blooming fine outside with just some added nutes once in awhile... Growing indoors seems to be incredibly harder.

I dont understand cashcroppers... All of the ones ive met say "its for the people...we are providing medicine for needy people...i grow for the people...", Yet the prices they charge for some alright bud is out of this world... I know if I was growing pounds upon pounds and I was "growing for the people" I think I would charge a shit ton less. Thats why I have decided to grow my own.

Would say thats my .02 cents but its probably more like .01 cent...


oh and i totally forgot to talk about the original subject..hence the edit.

I do remember seeing a small bottle of something at a local nursery that said it helps heal broken branches if you apply it to the wound and wrap the wound in cheese cloth... I cant remember the name for the life of me. Maybe im too high. But just letting you know there is something that you can use to help.

Just like inside we have the same issues .When I used to live in the midwest sure you could get away with "plant it and do nothing" and still reap huge harvest.As most growers in the west (colorado,Cali,etc.)Its not near so easy! First off there is no soil. Next no moisture at all !I does NOT RAIN here!If I miss watering by a few hours(which I do twice a day) I will have DEAD branches.I am basicly growing in a BIG pot(hole in ground) I have to provide everything needed for growth as do you.Without care these plants will be dead in 24 hours.Our issues are simular but let me assure you ,you cannot just "throw some seeds on the ground" in the arid western climate and get anything at all.I fully understand the problems inside growers face as my girls all spend 6 months inside under lights.As you know it is not easy to have 6-7 foot plants inside.For me these plants have to be extremely healthy to even have a chahce at harsh COLORADO summers.So I do see both sides of this.... The whole post started with a fellow grower (inside,outside ,who cares) asking for advice with a problem.I responded and was quickly attacked by RUSTY.Just because you don't agree with me or my teqniques does not mean "Idont know what I am doing" thats all I am saying.....Please lets try to keep it positive .... My main problem is that if you are going to help someone, friggin help 'em. Might be it's his med crop, and you are essentially telling him to leave to chance any number of bacterial infections, molds, virus' that may infect/affect the entire plant. Hell, it might even continue to split... I say that isn't a help at all. The only thing I failed to mention was a wound repair product, but I have never needed one myself, (but yes, repairs have been made) so have I no real concern that the product is even necessary. Perhaps outdoors is a different story.

As far as the claims of altruism, I've personally never sold a $5 branch to someone in need, nor would I. Let alone $1000. (for someone dying of AIDS or MS...?) I've been a member of the cannabis community for coming up on fourty years, and that behavior (taking advantage of sick peers) is no better than the accusations thrown-out at the insurance, drug and oil companies for decades. But at least they aren't targeting a stigmatized clientele, either. Selling a $10 product to ill people for $1000 makes for bad kharma.

Heard something earlier about "Is it really a bad thing to provide dispensaries with a portion of what you grow?" I don't know. Is 1000% markup ok for the drug companies? Most major drug companies last year, I believe, were under or near a 33% profit margin, after expenses. Talk to me when the cash croppers no longer see it as a $1000 branch, but as an altruistic donation to those in need.

Or let me guess...it's all the dispensaries fault...?

But, at least now we have a second choice of cartel to purchase cannabis from. :thumbsup:

Yeah. It's a bummer sometimes helping folks that don't know shit. (like you for instance)
No need for me to defend my actions, as I haven't grown outdoors in 30 years or so. But at least I understand biological processes and how to properly and stealthily grow my crop without fear of insects, vermin, nosy neighbors, city workers, children, thieves, the wind (which I hear breaks branches once in a while)

Also, slamming anyone in here for not growing outdoors is an insult to most of the folks in here that can not grow outdoors because of their situation, not because of their skill. And by the looks of it, growing outdoors requires no skill, as you seem to have a plant growing. (broken...but still a plant, I guess)
