Does today's weed have too much THC?
I'm with all those old guys  :D ... the pot of the 60's and 70's was every bit as good, as today's best, when you take into consideration, we were smoking outdoor commercial, as opposed to connessiur homegrown, today ... most 'THC percentage' comparisons I've read about, measured the 'bud vs plant weight' ... the better gear has more buds, less leaves ... but, the THC remains the same ... government anti-pot hype ... :smokin:

Marijuana has not increased that much in potency. The studies done in the 70's were bullshit like the most of the rest of the tests that have been done in the past. Marijuana used for these potency test in the 70's were old, some even moldy and mostly poorly grown Mexican brick. Sensimilla has always been around, just now their are more choices as far as strain, because of serious breeding done in the last 30 years.
If you would research these test you will see all of this, they have allot of these government tests on video, and the ones form the 30 or 40's (I am not sure about the exact date) are the worst ones, from cruelty to animals, to the mockery of science all together.

Simply because it is so easy to breed for, even in the most primitive conditions. You take a bud, smoke it and if it is "good", you keep the seeds. If it is "less than optimal" it's chicken food! (Lucky chickens!- hemp seed is excellent nutritionally)
Most folks like the THC high and there are still enough of CBD and CBN in even high THC strains to mellow out the high for them. Some folks need more of the mellowing effect of the other cannabinoids for a satisfying high- it's just a matter of personal biochemistry.
I, also, would like more focus on CBD and CBN, both of which have broad medical uses. However, their effects, although medically potent, are far more subtle- they don't really get you high like THC. And so, they are much harder to breed for- you need modern equipment to measure the levels of CBD and CBN.
In the future, we will be needing high CBD and CBN strains for medical purposes, so hang in there, hon, "your" strains are coming.

you know if you look at the pictures in the hightimes article you may see something strange. in hightimes they actually picked weed with seeds as the best weed. several of the pictures there are clearly seeds visible. and yet they get picked. if you ask me when it comes to potency then yes weed is much more potent now than it was then, but it is much more expensive. so i would say that overall for what you got in the day you get the same now, you just have a choice to get less that is more potent.

What.........I am so confused...................and I am sorry but potency has not change as drastically as they say, High times is not a reference of fact for the 70's and 60's . who is to say they could even get sensimaill when the pictures were taken. We all know that sensimiall is as old as plants them selves. very hard to find in nature but not impossible. potency is historically close to the same with less than a 10% rise in potency. Don't forget Northern lights has been around for at least 50 years, and it is still the same then as it is now. Very potent, and very indica.

I can testify to the 70's weed, can we say halleluiah! I forever search for the same bright red, sticky, shredded stuff I got once in 1975. I think the pictures from Dutch's vintage High Times is probably the closest I'll get.
Hey crabbyback,
At the age of 10 I got sent to Chesterfield County, SC, birth place of the Confederaticy. My uncle was called up to active duty from the Naval reserves, and my mom thought me and my older brother should help my aunt and do our part (WWII was about to erupt) by helping on the farm. Having been born and raised in NYC it was a bit of a culture shock. Up early, work for a couple of hours, grab breakfast then walk to school. Few hours of school then walk home and have lunch, then back to work. Hard work, but somehow we made it fun, at least most of the time. Kept by brother from being drafted and I think that was my mom's real reason she sent us. Got to know my southern roots, and actually got taught what "The War of Northern Aggression" was really about. hehe

Yo' Dutch,
I can't believe you actually remember the 70s. Hell....
at your age I'm surprised you remembered where the magazine was.
Thanks btw for the last comment and rep. (see, I took your advice and turned it on!) and also went over to the "other" side, how you guys do it is beyond me.

How right you are Granny! Much of the medicinal properties are in the CBN and CBD. Tho some anti-cancer properties have been seen in THC.
I supply some heavy indica (in a jar, vape ready) to a lady I know at the senior center in my town who has severe arthritus. She takes a combination of Aleve and a "light" vape of the indica. She then dumps the whip contents (in a jar I give her) and swears it works wonderfully. But if she vapes it more, she feels too "body stoned" to do anything so has found that the first light vape is where she finds relief. The jar I get back has plenty of "kick ass" left in it so I and/or my house mate vape it till done or use it as filler for rolling loose ones.
