Not a proponent of killing wildlife unless you plan to eat it or give the meat to someone who will.

Repellents may work for a short time -- or not. They probably won't work after a rain. And if the visitors are hungry enough, repellents don't matter anyway.

I've fought the little bastards for years and where there is one rabbit there are plenty more. I would find a way to screen my plants at least 2 ft high as was suggested earlier.

Oh, and say a prayer that a wandering deer doesn't stop by...

honestly, I'm the same way. but a pest is a pest. I wouldn't even hesitate to wipe out an entire civilation of spider mites or aphids, and a shotgun blast is much more humane than the chemical death they'd receive. but I do agree with crabby, put up some wire cages as long as they don't draw any unwanted attention to your plants.;)

We as growers need to uphold a better standard than just blasting away at small animals on land that does not belong to us.

aye, shooting Bugs was most likely a tempoary fix since where there is 1 there is normally more. You better either buy more shells or make those "cages" or something else. If 2 ft tall chicken wire cages are to noticable, what are you gonna do when plant is 4ft tall?? "Geez dear it dont look like a tomato plant to me" :smokin:

Make the fence and camouflage it with foliage. And you can dig up some bushes to plant around the area so the fence isn't as noticeable. :twocents:

camo's a good idea finn! I googled for some other repellents as well. It seems rabbits don't like strong smells. the cedar might work, another one I saw was garlic. I found a couple of pages with recipes and tips on how to deal with all kinds of different critters. not sure how they will work since reaper said his sister didn't have much luck, but check these out.
