I don't disagree with your state though. I would agree it should not be up to the federal government. If one state wants to legalize it than great, you could move their or fight to change the views in your own state. It is an issue for each state to decide on their own though and if the majority of the population disagrees with it, you either need to accept it, peacefully try and change their views, or move to a state where it is allowed.
I say peacefully because the bigots are not the only ones who sometimes resort to violence on this issue.

If you want to look at it that way really, I could say "why the fuck would you want to allow straight people to marry, when does it end? Do we then say its ok for gay people to marry as well, to marry multiple people? animals? siblings? wtf."

Obviously we just have to draw the line somewhere and marriage between to human beings is the line.
For the more open minded, I doubt filo will agree with me anyway, so.... What is wrong with marrying a sibling or cousin? Seriously?
If you love your cousin or brother/sister, you're gonna love them. It doesn't matter if you marry them but it may make you happier if that's what you want.
But it's not gonna change the fact that if you have kids there's a high chance they'll be retarded. It doesn't MATTER!
The same applies to multiple people being married.
One of my religious friends said if gay marriage or polygamy was allowed then AIDS would spread everywhere. The argument is also the same for this. Why would it? Why? Gay people are going to keep having sex regardless of whether they are married or not. And probably with less people if they are married. Polygamists will be in multiple-person relationships whether they can get married or not. It happens already. Letting them get married can only make them a bit happier if that's what they want to do.
It's just a fucking right that people should have.
As for animals.... no. It's completely different. Animals cannot consent to marriage.
On a lighter note, they married two frogs in India to appease the rain gods a couple of weeks ago lol. There was flies and insects for dinner. haha :rastasmoke:

I don't know where anybody got the idea that marriage is a "right". I don't care if straight or not, but marriage is not a right. The gov't should just get out of it completely, it is none of anybody's business. And I think "everybody should keep their sexual preference to themselves.

As an unbiased observer, the guy above does make a decent point in one regard.
Have you never considered how the overly flamboyant acts harm the cause. It is one thing to walk in a parade as a form of pride, it is another to throw it into other peoples faces. When you have 100's of gay men and women dressed in nothing with their asses hanging out and playing grab ass in public, it only harms the argument gay's are fighting for. I never understood why when people wanted something they tend to throw it in the face of the establishment.
Lets face it, a lot of the activity you see in the gay pride parades is not normal and would be hard for many parents to explain to their children. Don't you feel it would be easier to change the mind of those who oppose it by not shoving your lifestyle in their face? That is neither productive nor beneficial to your cause.
I'm not saying you are one of those, however, wouldn't it be easier to first try and calm the extremist in your movement down before trying to confront the opposition? They only undermine everything you are trying to fight for.

the men who have their asses hanging out in the parades are disgusting i agree completely.. i hate to see that because i feel its wrong and obscene but it doesn't have me judging the whole gay community based on a couple guys with their asses hanging out.

just regular people.. we watch movies, we eat, we can read, we have feelings, and we care.

and you are right about not openly throwing it in the face of the "system". it doens't make sense. too often people think with emotion and not rationality. it's no different than a church being bigots. all it does is strengthen the other sides argument.
all of this from a county that was founded on religious freedom. just like anything else, religion has been taken and twisted to fit a certain groups beliefs. does that mean that it's right? obviously not, hence the different denominations and religions themselves.

As I said, I didn't think you sounded like someone who acted like that. I'm simply trying to point out where a lot of the distain is coming from. No, obviously all gay people are not the extreme, but the ones who are breed distain from the opposition.
The point is merely, that yes, celebrating your way of life is one thing, but particularly in San Francisco, it has turned into a public display of debauchery (sp).
The reason it has many condoning the whole gay community though, is that very few within in it come out and say anything about those acts. It has to the point where I feel many in your community try and disgust people, as if to say, "I told you so, their all ignorant bigots who are disgusted by our lifestyle." I think a lot of them take the whole, "except me how I am thing to far."
I highly doubt the majority are like the extremes, however I can see the oppositions fear, when very few within the gay community speak about the debauchery in public and fail to ridicule the members who are doing it.
My only point is this, I honestly feel the gay pride parades in San Fran only harm everything you are fighting for, at least in the way they are now. If it were a bunch of people acting "normal" their probably wouldn't be as much back lash, instead I get the impression, many try and act as perverse and abnormal as possible in order to make a statement. The statement has been heard loud and clear however, and it does not resonate well with the general population.
If they acted that way at private parties it would be one thing, but in a public display it is a completely different matter.
By the way, I'm not talking about holding your partners hand or kissing them passionately in public, I'm talking about the specific acts that border on the pornographic and the members who purposefully try as hard as they can to not conform at all.

I'm not talking about flamboyant in the sense of jack (was that his name) on Will and Grace. I'm simply talking about the flamboyant and risqué behavior that often occurs in these public gatherings.
