4 - 100W CFL

I have fed my plants once a week for two weeks. (1/4 strength solution)

Flushed once.

I don't have a PH testing kit. Can you get them at home depot by any chance?:wtf:

The cfl's are about 3" away from the tops of the plants, I had them at the recommended 2" but found that a little to warm for the plant. So i adjusted.

Homedepot will have them but there the testing strips but they get the job done.

Most recent development:

-Plants are healthy!

-Coming up on 6th node w/ secondaries coming in nicely.

-Re-potting soon.

-New ventilation system this week.

you SHOULDN"T water your plants before transplant. i mean i suppsose it would work, but i've never heard of anyone doing it this way.

as far as watering, you should let them dry pretty good and then water. so if you stick your finger down in the soil, two knuckles deep, and they are dry then it is time to water. you can also tell by the weight of the pots. check this by using your index finger and thumb on each side of the lip of the pot and bounce it up and down. do this a couple of days later. you will feel a drastic weight difference. this is also a good indicator.

sorry to veer off, but it does pertain to transplanting, and here's how. you want you plants to be dry, needing to be watered BEFORE you transplant. the dryness helps keep all of the dirt in the rootball and not fall all over the place. (go grab a dry handful of dirt and squeeze it hard. not much happens right? now get it all wet and squeeze. what happens? all over the place right? making more sense?)
you can squeeze your pot a little around the sides. then flip it upside down, with the stem between your index and middle finger. tap the bottom as needed. it should slide right out. you shouldn't lose much if any of your soil. then you water her. this will help the old and new soil "mesh" if you will.

you should do this at night before the lights go off. it will help her get over it the transplant shock faster. this is a traumatic experience for you ladies!

idk man that knuckle test seems like a bad idea for clones and seedlings in general. I do hear its good to let the medium dry out a bit as well.

i was referring to plants in veg or flower, not clones or seedlings. for clones or seedlings you keep the medium damp, not wet.

headshake: I appreciate your input about transplanting. I agree with with what you said. Yesterday before i watered the plant soil was dry about 2inches down and the soil was fairly compact. Through this observation I can agree that soil will hold together better when dry over wet.
-I will allow the soil to become a dry before transplanting.

-They are in need of transplant soon! Need room to grow!

I'm not sure if this question has been answered before:

How often and when should the soil be flushed?--
My plants are green and healthy, so there is no reason to flush?

Should I flush them intermittently through my watering schedule?

Should a plant be flushed at all through VEG.?
(i know you need to flush when tips/ leaves begin yellowing, that could be a sign of nut. burn/ salt build up. The soil is becoming to concentrated with salts to allow the root system to take up enough water/ nutes to feed itself.....I may have just answered my question but let me know if this is the right thinking....)

no worries! glad to help.

the soil should obviously be flushed if there is any sign of problems. other than that, it won't hurt. i like to flush them everyonce in a while just because (the salt build up, like you said and such). that's veg or flower. i would flush intermittently.

for the salt buildup you can put a drop of dish soap into your feeding solution to help combat that.

observation is the key. each setup/plant are gonna act different. so YOU will be the one to know when and what is going on or needs to happen. it'll come with time.

Hello all,

It's been a while so i figured it's time for an update. So I have added 3 more 100WCFJ's and let me tell you, THEY LOVE IT!! Yes initial assumption that 4 was going to suffice all the way through, was completely wrong. 7 on two plants seem to be a good number for now.

Praying for female like everyone else. I think it's still early to tell but from an outdoor grow a year ago i think i'm going to have two ladies on my hands. Not sure if i'm seeing pre-flower or just baby secondary leave production? If you can see in the photos give me a shout.

I was wondering if anyone has done the drop of dish soap in the water to flush the soil? Has anyone had a good experience with this method for flushing? If so how much do you use? I'm thinking the tiniest drop?

I look forward to posting up some weed porn when they start budding, i got a macro lens, so i'll be able to see mad close.

Has anyone used crushed and dried eggs shells to their soil? Or add strained egg shell water to their soil?
