Noob!
Alright well let me see if ive got this setup just about right. 4-6 flourecent lamps, stackable bookshelf with 6in mini shelf to keep it somewhat close to light source, good potting soil, pots rangeing from sprouting to full growth, and i find a way to route a fan ill go take some pics and show u the room i plan on useing. I also have another unexspected issue that i found today chuck which is my gfs step dad he doesnt really like lights being on all the time which is ok during the day u cant tell but at he darker evening hours u can tell and he would def shut off the light which would RUIN my light situation and if thos flourensents raise the bill hill def notice theres many problems that could ruin my grow ideas which is discouraging me. Enought of the boring stuff hers the pics
1)Shelf to ceiling (ruffly 2 1/2 ft)
2)What im doing right now(obviously bad please dont insult)
3)Magazine showing the depth of the shelf
4)Full pic of the room from the outside
5)The cups im trying to sprout in right now
This is what im working with i know i should and probaly will put a box around it when i get my flouresents so that might solve my light issues from the outside and will find a box to use thinking maybe just 3 sides front and sides back being just the wall im not shooting for super tall plants maybe using the 2 and half feet i have to work with until they hit the lights hope they can bud in that short of a distance.

They can be cool white, daylight, or warm white. You want cool white or daylight for vegging. Yes, you can get your plant to grow quite nicely with them, but more light is better. At least get one of those "Y" shaped adapters that let you use 2 bulbs instead of 1. Just keep the lights real close and maybe get a small "el cheapo" fan. The wind will cause the stems to be stronger and the area to stay cooler.
Did you remember to put a hole in the bottom of your cup? It is important! If you don't put one in, the water blocks the oxygen to the roots and the plant suffers. There is a reason there is a hole in the bottom of flower pots!
Use good soil! When you transplant get good soil! Don't buy Miracle Grow anything is a good rule. (Yes, some of their products are "OK", but as a general rule ferted all wrong for cannabis.) I transplant from a 12 oz cup, to a 32 oz cup, to a 1 gallon pot, to a 19 gallon rubbermaid tub (2 plants per tub).
To veg your plant, you let it grow under 24/7 lighting. Since you want a fast turn-around time, as soon as your baby gets 5 fingered leaves, you can buy a timer ($5) and set the lights on 12/12. This will cause your baby to mature- whether a boy or girl.
Have fun!

You are in the right direction, eventually you'll buy or build a grow box. Trust me you will find it more conveniant for lighting and whatnot. You can make one out of a rubbermaid container, some CFLS, and a fan. This way it won't be light all the time {in the room} and chuck can't complain. The electricity used is going to be minimal from CFLs, you'll get into some issues with HPS. Just research and find out what you need to do, theres enough information here for you or anyone else to learn a thing or two. GL man!!!

Yea thanks man i will def build a box soon but right now im gonna stick with my straight bay ghettoness cause around my last post i just turn the lights off right never on more than when i go in the closet and one of my plants actualy sprouted the little four leaf thing so i dont know i got a new pot up there about 2 inches away from the light about 4 times closer than the last one so yea idk im gonna throw it out there and see if it sticks and now i also go some in the window its been real sunny around here now so well see then i can just open the window for venting. So well see until the time i can invest in building a box get the right light vents and what not so yea

The safest and most effective way is grow boxes they produce yields larger and faster, and they can be made to be disguised as other objects which is real helpful against unwanted visitors, ie 5-0
