Is Too Much Air in DWC Possible?
I grow in dwc. I run Latewoods method and liquid koolbloom and hit ppms of 1450-1500. (including the 180ppm from my tapwater). I used to run ppms of 1050-1100 and never had any problems, and turns out that even at these higher ppms, they still eat like pigs! It depends on the strain but I still doubt nute burn causes the brown slime. I get brown algae looking stuff on my roots sometimes. What I do is sanitize everything! Rinse out and scrub the res with some h202, then rinse again. THEN replace the airstones, don't clean them, maybe soak them in h202 then use an air compressor to blow them out then re-soak then rinse, but for 2$ I just chuck them. Rinse off the roots in luke warm tap water. Go ahead and use your fingers to remove damaged roots and excess slime. Re nute the res and then get the temp to 68-72. Too low and it won't promote new root growth. Maybe the air pump needs a new airscreen on it's intake, you are pumping that air into the res! Then dose 1/2 cup h202 (3% not 35%) per gallon, repeat at midweek if you're worried, then res change as normal. This usually helps get rid of it for me. It seems I was re-using bad airstones that I thought a quick rinse fixed. Plus I got lazy with my res-hygeine. I stunted and/or killed like 1/2 a crop and had to re-up on my passion to grow. I was changin the res like once in flower before flush!! Just adding and guessing, lettin the ph vary between 5.5 and 6.2 without care. BAD!!:(
