They make the whole process easier.

I did a 24/0 with the bubble cloner, but I used plastic Folgers cans instead of rubbermaid tins (washed very well over the course of two weeks). They held about a half gallon of water each.
Two weeks later, the "new" growth was YELLOW and dry as hell, but the side branches had shot off and the roots were at least 6 inches long on each of my clones.
Aside from the nasty yellowing, which I have yet to see a problem from, it worked well.
Guess two weeks is about normal for a decent root system if they survive.
Oh... I used pH 6.7 (I KNOW... I know) TAP water, a little Green Light R.H. powder, and a drop of Super Thrive per gallon.
Transplanted to 5 gallon bubble buckets this past weekend and will check on them this weekend.

I have 18 tomato sprouts going, and they are B-E-A-U-tiful!!! Hairs EVERYWHERE!
Also have 25 "special" sprouts under a HUM dome and on a heat mat.
Bout to throw a 3 foot tall "mom" into flower.... cloned her so I can keep the genetics, but I need some smoke!
Good luck, man!
