Is there anyway to avoid the munchies??
A year ago, when I was at home, I became a masticating machine. My mom stacked the pantry from string cheese, to animal crackers, to cold steak cuts from the night before. Damn I miss that.
Now im flatting in apartments in New Zealand I only have healthy filling options like oatmeal and cereal. I eat till im full but its so boring I dont want more.
I always feel grotty when im burnt out and bloated full so I dont mind

i find if i eat before, not only do i eat less, but then i get less hungry. and when i do get hungry when high after i cant really find anything that would taste good so i just dont eat then. but i found that even if you have nothing to do, head to the downtown of the nearest large town. walk around, go to the headshop, whatever, it gets you off the seat of your pants even if it is nothing, it gives you exercise, i started to do this when i started smoking and that is when i noticed my largest weight loss, 80lbs in 7 months, and i still ate fairly regularly, it removes the food source and the exercise reduces the appetite and uses calories, not that it becomes strenuous, but it is more activity than sitting around doing nothing, or driving doing nothing, both using the bare minimums of energy.
mow the lawn, that is always a more intensive activity, and if you do it for your neighbors, wether free or not, you can feel better, if free, or richer, if for money, and healtier, i did it one summer, made enough to buy a new set of clubs off one lawn. think about 2, and you can be high as shit while you do it, plus the low starting and maintenance costs. just think about that, i am afterall.

Sex. No seriously. It's amazing and you can't eat while doing it and you have the added bonus of burning calories. :thumbsup: Of course this is not a universal option.
I tend to eat less lardy and regretful munchies as well as making up for the consequences at the gym or whatever you fancy for exercise. You can enjoy yourself and still enjoy your self.
Don't buy the bad stuff when you're shopping because if it's in the house, you'll eat it. The self-control takes place primarily in the grocery store.
Get fruit, it's lovely stuff when stoned, especially strawberries.
If I am feeling irrational munchies I'll usually drink some water, juice, or eat Jelly (Jell-O) or have a piece of gum. Don't overdo it on the gum though or your arse will regret it, literally.

self control.. that's the only method I use honestly.
If I'm genuinely hungry I try to eat something healthy. Worst case situation i eat some popcorn and a 20 oz Soda (sierra mist sees to work well due to high carbonation content) and I feel full for about 2 hours or so.

Eating super healthy food would be great, but if you want to totally rid yourself of the munchies, I think fructose (sugars found in fruits) would be a good idea.
Eat some fruit!

When you eat fructose it goes directly to your liver. Your liver has the choice of converting it into glycogen for your muscles, glycogen for itself (the liver), or fat. What it chooses to do will basically depend on how much glycogen is currently stored in your liver. If your liver glycogen stores are low it will first store the fructose in the liver because fructose is four times as efficient at replenishing liver glycogen than glucose is. Once your liver glycogen stores are full, it will then store the remainder fructose calories as fat. Little to none of the fructose calories will go to the muscles.
High intake of fructose or fructose products (sucrose, high fructose, corn syrup, fruit juice) will cause greater fat storage and a greater decrease in fat burning than glucose even though glucose is higher on the GI index.
So basically what I'm saying is.. fructose isn't all it's cracked up to be if your concern is fat loss/weight loss.

If anyone wants references I can pull references from books I have at the house. I didn't get this off the internet (have a bunch of materials at the house on fitness and diet... was studying to be a personal trainer).
Fructose isn't bad for you, but it's not that great either. I stay away from it when I'm trying to lower my body fat.
