I am a HVAC company owner... I started out sweeping floors in a machine shop many years ago, worked hard, did double duty at school...was going to the local JC while I was still in High school as well as working. I earned my journeymans papers at the tender age of 19, then as long as I had a means of keeping a roof over my head and food on the table, I enlisted in the Coast Guard as a mechanical engineer. Uncle Sam was kind...when I retired from the military after 22 years, Uncle had paid for me a masters degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in environmental science. just one of the things I was trained in in the military was heating, ventilation, and air conditioning along with a whole lot of other things. When I retired, I couldn't find anybody that wanted to pay what I was worth, so I started my own company. It took a couple years to get it running where I was happy with it... been living the dream ever since. Been in business for 12 years now.Quote:

i work in a health food store for animals. I guess you could say its a little strange, but people really dont realize what they feed their pets and how dangerous it is. We dont only sell food, we sell supplements, and natural preventatives and cures for many ailments. Many of the supplements in the store can be used on people to to help with the same problems because they are natural. Take neem for example, we sell the oil in the store, and it is a natural insect repellent, along with a fungicide, and bacteriocide. Which can be very useful for growing seeing as it prevents bugs, fungus and bacterias.
Feeding the right type of foods to your animals increases their health, meaning you spend less time at the vets, which actually make money off your pet being sick, imagine that. And they dont have to take the hypocratic oath.
Current college student at Le cordon Bleu institute in Minneapolis. But my part time position is a "page" At a local library.

^ dude, a great treat, for a shih-tzu, or any dog really would be bully sticks. They are great for dogs, they are a protein based treat meaning they are getting a very vital nutrient. They are hard and fiberous which is good for cleaning teeth. There is virtually no mess, only the chewed on end stays wet, and the little bits that break off are usually eaten as soon as they are dropped, and if you get the ones that are drained right there is no smell. They are digestable, they are so much better than rawhide that my store doesnt even sell rawhide, never give a dog rawhide, which presents choking hazards, and doesnt digest and can sit around in their bowels for long times, if they even pass through. Plus they can take several hours to days to finish one so it is a great treat for dogs who need something to chew on.
the only thing is you wanna get one that is holistic, or natural, organic, freerange, something, check any that say they are smoked, because a lot of commercial brands smoke products with BHA or BHT as a preservative, but both of these are known to be highly carcinogenic. A good brand to start with would be Red Barn, and they are lightly smoked, but with natural woods and the such.
