many mindful folk refer to hatred as the ..umm... "child" ...of fear. So maybe there are many scared of the change Obama ?might? bring. Be that good , or bad.Quote:

I agree that these are things that ALL voters should look at.

You know Mrs. Clinton is eating this up. With the support she still gets today despite Obama being the Presidential candidate is amazing. I'm sure it would be in her best interest if good ole' Barry ate the dirt on this one. It would just about seal the deal on her getting nominated as the democratic presidential candidate in 2012.Quote:

- The problem in Darfur is lawlessness, so it's pretty hard to make things worse like we did in Iraq. And besides, the UN is already involved there.
- Opening up more areas to drilling isn't as simple as it seems. For one, there are plenty of good drilling sites in the US already that aren't being used, even though there's nothing stopping the oil companies. Plus, oil won't last forever. We need to gradually transition away from oil and if we use it up as fast as we can there will be a pretty devastating crash. Slowly opening up new drilling sites as need warrants it is the prudent thing to do. And still, Obama has said he WOULD be open to allowing drilling in new places provided certain safeguards are in place.
- I always hear that lowering capital gains tax raises revenue, but that's only for the very short term, as investors sell off all their investments due to low taxes. I don't see how taxing capital gains like you'd tax other income is such a bad thing.
- At least we agree on something. For that matter, I really liked McCain in 2000, but he's changed his stance on so much since then.Quote:

- Obama had 129 present votes out of his 4000+ votes in the state senate. There is nothing unusual about this for Illinois state senators.
- Yeah, I admit his tenure in the senate was short, though I'm not seeing where you get 144 days, unless you're only counting the days the senate was in session or something. Still, he has more experience than Abraham Lincoln did when he ran for president.
- Rev. Wright isn't the demon he seems to be when you watch his entire sermons in context. Anyway, the Obama family didn't exactly go to every Sunday sermon.Quote:
Character:
-Rev. Wright
-The Trinity Church
-Tony Rezko
-William Ayers
- It is really easy to find things the Trinity Church did and said, then take them grossly out of context to make Obama seem like a Black Panther or something. Please don't do this, ok?
- Tony Rezko was really involved in Chicago politics. He donated to a bunch of campaigns and held fundraisers for candidates. Once the corruption charges came up, Obama dropped him and donated his money to charity. Obama isn't suspected of wrongdoing in any of the investigations surrounding Rezko.
- Barack served on a board with William Ayers. So what? It's not like they were best buddies, or Ayers is still in the Weather Underground. As a politician, you associate with so many people, you can't possibly vet every person you come across.
- I'm sure the dollar-a-day figure is BEFORE anyone found out he's Obama's half-brother. He's done several paid interviews since then, so you can be pretty certain this isn't true anymore.Quote:

-The same platform that he used to beat Clinton now seems to be a thing of the past....decietful
- Although his supporters have tried to play the race card, it doesn't help Barack any. If anything, it alienates him from white voters, who are the ones he needs to win.
- What in particular did he abandon after he beat Clinton, other than the pledge to use public financing? (I admit this last one was an underhanded thing to do, but he is a politician trying to win after all)
-Before the government decides to put millions into a health care system thats broke lets find out why it is. I used to work for a hospital system and I saw ALOT of waste. I just can't justify giving these people government dollars so they can play business as usual.Quote:

This world is at a state where we need someone that knows about these things today, not training by trial and error like we've seen. Bush and Rumsfeld should send red flags for the election of future candidates.
-I agree that alternatives to oil should be explored; that should have been done already considering what we went through in the late "70"s. Untill then if there is as much as a drop of oil here in the states I say let's get the middle eastern oil monkey off our back.
-Right now capital gains on long term investments is 15% and I believe 28% on short term. In order to get the lower tax rate the investment has to be held for longer than one year. I can't see how this would create more of a sell off. This is just one example of his tax plan. I'm also not for windfall taxes, while the government taxes the cost of this will find it's way to us, Joe consumer.
-Don't they all. Makes me wonder what their definition of change really is. Maybe the option to change their looks to please the polls?Quote:

-The way I understood it, 144 days was the time period from which he was in Senate until he decided to run for President. As for Lincoln, that was a much simpler time.
-As for Rev. Wright I'll never be soled on the point that he's not that bad. This man preached hate from a place that should be preaching love. I've personally had a friend that I thought was the shit untill one day we saw a white woman with a black child. I won't go into our conversation but he's no longer a friend. He had MANY good points but in the end he was a racist, something I don't deal with very well.Quote:

His statement in "01" should have been enough to run off Obama but it didn't. You can't vet everyone granted but this dudes past was well known in the Chicago circle of politics.
-Glad to hear that for his sake BUT Obama knew about his circumstances before that. I wouldn't let a brother go down that road on his own if I could help it.Quote:

-Yeah, public financing is one. Then there is his vote on FISA, his change of stance on troop withdrawl, possible drilling for oil; you have to agree that some primary issues have been modified for the general election.
I'm getting the impression that you feel I'm a republican....I'm not. I've voted for both sides of the aisle and have also voted for the independent. In general, I think that 99.9% of all politicians are self-indulgent assholes.

Is Bill Kristol ever right about ANYTHING? He pulls this kind of crap out of his ass every day and none of it ever pans out. How is he even still in the business?
