I am also pro-choice, but honestly waht do you expect? The man delivered over a thousand babies! He has a record of not being a hipocrit, and him speaking publicly that his personal views of being pro-choice would not make him change abortion laws which is what he has always clearly stated that things like that the fed should not infringe on. There are countless economists who have spoken about the Gold standard being far superior, sounds like you have been watching to much CNN. I guess we just differ in opinions PFB, I just cannot imagine less taxes, smaller government and more civil liberty to be a bad thing and I dont see any candidate right now in support of all those things other then Ron Paul. The best you can do is come up that he has taken money from the shrimpboat industry, how about naming some of the other candidates backers?! The last thing im worried about is that hes backed by the stinkin SHRIMPBOAT industry, comon man! The Shrimping industry here has been going down for years and he has always fought for the industry so people would stop buying the cheap-stuff from the other asian countries, I cant and wont blame him for that.

one of his major backers by the way. Seems slimy to me but hey.......
Who are you referring to? His campaign was grass roots funded by normal people. He had more support from soldiers than any other candidate.

Other issues:
-Abortion....he's completely right to life and his record shows that. Agreed, McCain is in the same boat but at least he doesn't evade the question...that isn't a big confirmation for McCain either! I personally believe in a womans right to choose.
He has said, and I'm not going to dig the video up, that his personal opinion on the subject is pro-life, however he would make it a state issue and he wouldn't influence one way or the other.
There are of course circumstances that require abortion (says Ron Paul as well) people will call me old fashioned but I believe that you don't mess with nature, you mentioned that it is a womanâ??s right to choose, of course the unborn child should just accept that :(

All of those excuses, except the valid ones, are really just people that donâ??t want responsibility, but this belongs in another thread.

-Military....bring ALL the troops home from across the world? Abandoning ALL of our allies across the world would DEFINATELY have serious effects on us here at some point. Not to mention the chaos that would persue.
Ok you would prefer to keep bombing the middle east and keep accepting the inevitable refugees who could grow bitter towards the west and bomb us from within?

We had 9-11 coming?....Screw that! This is NOT the type of attitude that I want our President to have!!
Well if you keep doing what youâ??re doing then no one will ever retaliate, right sound logic.

-Revert back to the gold standard....I don't think there is an economist around that would agree with that considering that most of the world is pegged to the U.S. dollar. This is a world economy now whether the isolationalists like it or not.

History is against you, history is on the side of hard money, if you look at stable prices then you have to look to the only historic sound money thatâ??s lasted more than a few years. Fiat money always ends, gold is the only currency where you can get stable prices, for instance in the last 3 to 4 years the price of oil has tripled a barrel of oil, 20, 30 dollars up to 100 dollars, and yet if you look at the price of oil in terms to gold its absolutely flat, absolutely stable so if we want stable prices we have to have stable money, but I cannot see how we can continue to deliberately destroy the value of money as an economic value.

Making abortion a state issue is a terrible idea.
Women will get abortions no matter what. If a woman lives in a state where it's illegal, and can not find transport to a state where it is, the chance is high of her seeking an illegal abortion. The chances of the illegal abortion having the same sanitary conditions and safety levels are usually slim.
This is a womens health and safety issue, plain and simple.

Why is it a terrible idea? The state decides. Quite frankly itâ??s not like birth control doesn't exist. Having an abortion 16 weeks in is quite disgusting IMHO.
Today having kids is not a blessing anymore, what has caused this shift in thinking, Greed? In the past, people had more kids with less money. Having children is probably the best thing that can happen to someone (not from experience, I'm 19).
I agree that illegal abortion would be gruesome but I don't think that would happen in this day and age as much as it did in the past. In the past they were a lot poorer, there wasnâ??t any birth control and not to mention women often died during labour.
I think abortion is almost encouraged nowadays, I think abortion should be the last resort.
One of the problems with abortion is future sterility. The chance of not being able to have children increases after an abortion.

Birth control fails, rape happens, there are lots of circumstances that don't fit "well they should've used a condom!".
There are many people who never want kids, myself and my partner included. It has NOTHING to do with greed, I just know kids aren't for me. I don't feel like I need to have kids to have a complete and fulfilling life. Having a child is by no means the best thing that could happen to me, I see it as one of the worst. I have nothing against kids , I love my nephews, but I never want to be a mother.
Arguing abortion with a pro-lifer isn't something I'm willing to do anymore, because it's not an argument that either side will EVER agree on. I'm just going to agree to disagree because we obviously are on very different ends of the spectrum on this one.

I'm completely against earmarks of any sort....likewise, when a politician benifits from these earmarks I consider that on the verge of illegal. At the very least, this isn't the act of a "fiscal conservative".

Wait, what?
Any economist worth his salt understands that reverting back to the gold standard would be the best thing to do for the sake of the value of the dollar. How anyone can say that backing a currency with gold would be a bad idea is a complete mystery to me. Let me get this straight, you want a FIAT currency to remain in place, a currency based on consumer FAITH ALONE, instead of a currency backed by a VALUED MATERIAL that is exchangeable for the currency?
Not to mention all the countries that back the dollar (of course, ours included) are essentially getting taxed everytime they purchase crude oil. Quite literally for every 1% drop in the dollar's value, crude goes up $4. So basically, all the countries that operate under a different currency system are getting a rebate on crude oil, which does not help the price at all.
I'd love to see a comment from you about this when crude hits 200/bbl and gold is at 1600/oz. Because trust me, this will happen, and the terrible value of the dollar will account for it.

Don't ya think it's a good time to invest into gold then? Look back into golds history and you'll find why it's not legal tender anymore.
Have a good one!:s4:
