check out these pics. what happened????

Some soils will dry up like cardboard and actually repel water. Is the water pooling then running down the sides of the pot and draining? Does the soil have a lot of peat in it? How heavy is the pot? Can you smell anything through the holes in the bottom of the pot? Foul? what is the ph? Hope it recovers!

thanks for all the posts but she is just too far gone at this point. iam not totally bummed though ill just chalk this up as a learning experience.
