how do i quit the military
well my plan was to go to college and my recruiter told me a bunch of shit , but he also said that the army would pay for all my schooling , and that they would pay me 700 a month while im in college , but i told him that i cant do ait( 7 weeks training) because of fall semester is when im going to college so when im a full time student the army only pays me 195 a month , my recruiter didnt want to tell me that , he also said that ait will be 2 weeks long and that i can get 20,000 dollars right after boot camp. i dont get the 20,000 till after ait and a three year wait anniversary when i signed up. he also told me that i was not deployable , (which i am), and he also said that i could move to california easily ,( which i cant because i have to serve the ga national guard first , and my plan was to move to california for school. so im not going to support the gov. and the mil. i just dont want to do it , id rather be a stoner.

I was supposed to be getting on the bus for the last trip to Miami MEPS, the morning I decided not to go. Decided I didn't want to devote 8 years of my life (Navy - nuke program) to the military. (wouldn't give it 8 seconds now, if I'm honest) I just didn't get on that bus. Simple as that. Sure, they weren't happy.. but if I recall, it didn't show up as a Dishonorable. Not sure if that has changed, since this was back around the time of Desert Storm.
Just think.. if they hadn't taken so long on my flat-feet waiver, I'd have possibly gone in. They gave me too long to think about it. Oh well.. there's a lot of things in my life that I'd do over knowing and feeling what I do now, but staying off that bus isn't one of them.

wiat wait wait let me get this straight you joined the Nat'l guard. well first thing is anyone YOU know who is contemplating joining tell them one thing: tell the recruiter exactly what it will take to get them to join and GET IT IN WRITING WITH BOTH SIGNATURES!! now as for your situuation like i said earlier you are not officially in until you swear in at your first duty station (AIT) also the army no longer does boot camp then AIT its called OSUT now and he didnt lie about 2 weeks of AIT. youll do 2 weeks AIT after 5 weeks of basic training. when you told him you couldnt do AIT in the fall you should be able to contact the adjutant and get your AIT moved up to a summer AIT. that way you can do all 7 weeks in the summer. also you can go live wherever you want you just have to report to you unit once a month. your best bet now would be to contact a california recruiter explain th situation to him and see if he can help you. what you signed should have also stated WICH state you were signing up to sevre with. also contact another local recruiter and see what they can do.
you never did say what your MOS is i was a 19k, m-1 armour crewman and i had 14 weeks.

Firstly, I would feel conned if a recruiter had lied to me about joining up. It's that feeling of being conned, ripped off, misled. It's shit, if thats the true story, you've ever right to refuse to co-operate on that basis. Secondly I'd certainly refuse to work with an employee that bullshitted about my wage or contract. Simple.
Any contract simply can't be valid if it is either taken under duress or defined incorrectly by one of the people contracting the agreement. If your oath and signature signed is contractual then the recruiter having lied is in beach of that contract, it's a "promise" that can't be gone back on, for both sides - not just you , OK.
If the recruitment wasn't your official enstatement or contractually binding then you've not sworn in, then you are subject to no "contract".
That seems to me like a win, win , basis. Government, no government, military , civilian, it's still a crime or at least not a contract or a law binding agreement if someone has been lying or defining the agreement incorrectly. This usually includes misleading statements...
Anyway, I don't know the military as well as you `mil types`, but I do get democracy, rights & honour, something everyone should be paying attention to - it's what we are supposed to love best yaknow, and something our constitution was written to protect, by any means,
My 2 cents,
Peace,
Denial

the only problem with this argument is i could TELL you that ill give you a million dollars an hour to sit on your ass and answer a phone but if it dont say that in writing and you sign said contract without reading it well you and i are bound to the signed contract no matter what i said prior. cause when you try to sue me for breech of contract i never said anything to the sort and you volantarily signed said contract, aint my fault you were never told to read something before you sign it.
one other little tidbit of info you cannot join the california nat'l guard in geogia. what ever state you enlist in is the state you serve.

OK HERES HOW IT WORKS.... half these people havent ever enlisted for the military. i myself am currently an active duty sailor and when you go to meps and swear your oath, that first time, it doesnt count. when its time for you to go to bootcamp youll go to meps again, swear yourself in again and all that shit, then go to bootcamp. AND not to mention the only way you get a dishonerable discharge is if you commit like a felony or some shit. even if you pop on a drug test its an OTH not a dishonerable. just go talk to your recruiter and tell him you do not want to go. tell him you changed your mind and hes not changing it back. your technically not in the military yet so he cannot tell you what you can and cannot do. im not sure if someone has pointed this out yet because i didnt read all the posts. but my dad joined the navy and got out before he went to bootcamp. he did that first swear in and was waiting and changed his mind. all he did was jst tell the recruiter he didnt want to go, and he was out. it may be an OTH im not for sure, but i believe if you get that then you cant join again.

yeah i almost joined the nuke program but this dude workin in the navy office at meps was like welllllll we have to take another test for that... CHECK THIS OUT and he showed me a video for the SWCC program. so i signed up for that, then i figured well if im gonna do this, better go all the way and switched to SEALs... when i was in dep i took that PFA a few times and i didnt know how to do a sidestroke. started off going at about 15 minutes and then it was about a month before i was SUPPOSED to go to bootcamp. and i had my time down to 12 minutes 58 seconds. then the recruiter told me i was going a month early. they promised me one more shot at the PFA and i didnt get it. that swim was the only thing i couldnt pass, boy those recruiters will fuck you over hard if it will help them in any way. im still gonna try for seals though...

I hate the government dont join whatever you do.

I did 6 years in the Air Force and found out after the fact that through basic training you still have the right to opt out because you don't technically take the oath until you graduate basic so you can either do that or just don't do anything they tell you in basic and you'll get an administrative discharge. Nothing that will reflect badly on you since you technically aren't a part of the armed services yet.
