dude..you're lucky. I'm actually headed there in 2 weeks and I can't wait.
I've been there a few times and although I'm no expert, here are few things to check out
my fav red light district coffee shop:
= Baba. It'stouristy, but it's comfy
- Hill Street Blues - not a great place, but they have this stuff called 'Buddhas' Sister' which is really good stuff
fav all around place
- Abraxsis...outside of RLD, near Dam Square. great place, especially if you like to eat it and not smoke all the time. shakes, brownies etc.
- Grey Bar is good too...good place to buy.
We rent a houseboat and stay there. it's like an apartment, and a great thing especially if you've smoked. I would highly recommend it.
Not sure what you're into, but if you're into food and trendy places check out Supper Club. Also after you've smoked, go to the Japanese Pancake House....incredible
If you like the rav and nightclub scene check out Escape Bar and Hotel Arena
If you like beer be sure to tour the Heineken Brewery. It's cool and beer is good.
It looks like you have time....get on a train for 30 minutes and head to Utrecht. It's an incredible city north of the dam. sunken canals and guess what...coffee shops. you'll love it.
have fun. it's a great city. be sure to get out of the RLD...there's a lot to see in Amsterdam and it's one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Utrect is a great place to visit. We saw a Ry Cooder and David Lindley concert there, in the late 1990's. Lindley said he got baked before the show at a coffee shop across the street from the concert hall.Quote:

There was a coffe shop in Utrect that did a good deal on the smoke so we spent a lot of time in there.
One tip for you is dont carry a lot of money on you only take what you need for each day.
Have a good time and good Luck.:thumb. sup:
im glad this thread is positive. im tired of all the haters telling people not to go to amsterdam because its trendy, or a tourist trap or 'the weed isnt the best' or whatever else.
thats all bullshit.
amsterdam is a beautiful, fun and exciting city. if you are at all interested in marijuana, spend a few days there. everyone i met there was pleasant and helpful. they met my american tourist ass with unparalleled kindness and i never felt unsafe or mistreated there for even a second. the smoke was top notch - anyone who says otherwise is just flailing their e-penis around for an audience. if you are respectful, responsible and self-aware you will have a fun time in amsterdam.
really what is so great about amsterdam? If I can have my weed here, why go to amsterdam? I have weed here and im happy with it.
[quote=lilpayaso13]reallyWell lilpayaso13 you would have to go there to find that out, going by what you have said in your post you are happy where you are thats you choice, i dont think Amsterdam will miss you.Quote:

i loved Amsterdam! be sure to visit Europe's oldest pub, drink a beer and watch some football with the locals. i was going to try to pick up some herb in one of the shops, (we were just there one night and then onto the Eurorail to Deutsland), but I walked up to the bar (i guess they call it a bar :stoned:) and before we could even order this dude passes me and my buddy a j, i took one hit and kinda forgot where i was until we ended up in McDonalds at around 2:00 a.m. with what seemed like the rest of the city. :D
i also loved the Haufrahaus in Munchin, Deutsland. have fun.
