Best HPS Temperatures/Carefree/Careful

Put the a/c in the 'breather room' for your grow, which is the room from which your grow's intake pulls, and into which it exhausts if they are the same. You now have a larger system with constantly moving air and you can control the temperature more evenly.
Air conditioners have built-in thermostats so you should not need a timer.
