in my grocery store, they sell both blackstrap and fancy mollasas. i chose fancy because the nutrition label seemed to indicate more iron, vitamins, carbs, etc. is that a good choice?

I would imagine that is a good kinds, since im pretty sure molasses is used as a carb supplement. I may be wrong about the molasses being a carb supplement tho, i have never used it.. I also heard that blackstrap mollases or whatever it is, is fine for horticulture.Quote:

Blackstrap has the most nutrients for plants of the three grades and so is typically the most sought-after.
Gainseville, I have heard that Sweet is a good idea to use with mollasses, I think Ive read that it helps the plant to efficiently use the carbon and carbs that the mollasses has in it... do u know anything about that??
If this information was right, do u think that molasses and Sweet would work good with my FoxFarm 3-part liquids?? I was also thinking of using some liquid karma.. any advice??
yes its ok to use both products together, just dont use at full stregnth, do a half and half mixture
Hey Texas Grass!
This may be a little late, but here's a link on this board that tells you more about molasses than you ever cared to know.

To cut to the chase, I learned you get Blackstrap molasses at the feed store, not the grocery store. My grow (first) is currently in week 4 of flowering and I'm starting to give the girls 1/2 tsp once a week in addition to flowering nutes. I've also learned not to premix the molasses to avoid bacteria, I suppose it likely begins to ferment. Basically, I mix it, water and throw out the rest.

hey farmer rich
i have read through the molasses link, but thanks anyways
im using the dry stuff for the first time along with afew bacteria and fungi stuff and i can see some growth on the top layer of the soil
I've not used them both personally, but I think I may recommend them to my growing friend for future use. I know that I have read posts by Stinky about sweet allowing for the easier uptake/processing of carbs.Quote:

Got really dense thick heavy buds with it, of course I have nothing to compare to, since im only on my 2nd grow and used it on my first and my current.I got 2 1/2 OZ dry on a 2 foot plant of bag seed, under 1 70watt HPS and 6 CFLs. Everyone that tasted it said it was some of the best smoke they had in a while. It looked dam pretty also. Definite ego boost for a first attempt. I dunno if it had to do with the Molasses or if I just have a green thumb. I know that Im gonna use it every time from now on
