help_needed did silver ever toss that hut?
I can point out several threads on every forum i know of w/this HHut death to crops deal. they all read almost exactly alike.
ppl calling HH HQ and getting replacements, blaming china...lol. its all too yukky for me, but gl.
as it is called, not long ago someone asked me to construct a Hydro Hut by Viagrow, as the Shipping container was labled indicating that "the interior should be thoroughly disinfected prior to use", duh! The clerk at the shop even verbalized the same thing and acknowledge there had or still could be a known caustic residue on the material... should have been a warning bell!
Well within about 48 hours of getting it delivered, cleaning it with two solutions and attempting to get it put together on a test run. We busted one of the zippers, the mfg quality of the thing was so poor, it was litterally going to need maintenance to get it put together... give me a freekin break.... I exchanged it for the (I think this is true) rebranded HomeBox now the SunHut.
I will say the SunHut is sweet, not a cheap overseas knock off. Great quality materials, upholstery, stitching, velcroed flaps covering two 4" and 6" holes for venting flanges... real nice so far.
My grow store guy just told me the hydro hut in his shop made all the plants in it turn yellow. This is not because of chemicals in support beams, but in the vinyl or plastic.
I had similar problems with my hydrohut. The zippers got stuck real easy and its hard not to break them off. Other than that it works great. I re-enforced the top brackets with rope though. I want to get some snaps to fix the zipper problem. I think snaps would be more reliable.Quote:

I almost bought one but decided to fill in a corner of my room with plywood etc..... Cheaper than the hut and I only needed 5 ft tall for moms.
If you don't plan to move it around, use wood instead. If it needs to be portable I know someone who built a 4x4x6 room with casters under it.
I imagine it's just luck of the draw whether or not your hydro hut will kill your plants. If they really tried, I'll bet they could isolate it down to the exact batch of materials that caused the problems. Who knows if your hut will come from that batch or not? Good luck, I know I wouldn't buy one until that problem gets alleviated.

And Opie, what were the dimensions (roughly) for the closet you found?
Here's the skinny: It was one batch from china and the problem is with the vinyl the tent is made from. It's releasing some kind of gas. My local hydro shop has one that'sbeen up 2 yearsw/o problems. Hydrohut will pay your shipping costs to return for replacement.Quote:

It's the coating on the poles, not the vinyl. Do a google search for 'hydrohut syndrome' to see discussions of this. The company has since fixed the issue and personally I like those tents a lot as a solid product.
Just watch out for those Chinese dumplings with the steamed cardboard fillers in them, lol...
Sorry, that's what my hydro shop owner told me today. Maybe he's got it wrong. Regardless, they are a good product. One customer of his took his plants out of his defective hydrohut, said they looked dead. 24 hours after he removed them from the Hydrohut they came back.
At least Hydrohut is providing new ones for those affected.
