If I had to be named after a plant, why oh why couldn't I have been named Mary?

I'm an Emily, and the name apparently has conflicting meanings. Some say it means "rival." Most of the others I've read say it means "ambitious" or "industrious." I've also read "eager."
I'll settle for the translation I've read most consistently over the years, which is "industrious."
Then there's also my Plan B, which is to change my name to Mary.
I'm Angela Meaning Angel ...middle name is Felicia meaning Happyness
I'll do you guys one better. My full maiden name meant "The pure one, shining, *sparkling like the sea". Kinda poetic. Heck of a thing to try and live up to! I was 5 or 6 when I found a dictionary that had the meanings of names in the back. Plus, my first name was spelled unusually- I have fought with clerks since kindergarten! Do our mothers do these things to us on purpose?- Granny:hippy:
*There are other translations for the last name, but most have sea/ocean and/or shining/bright, etc in them.
ok i just looked up my full name and it doesn't make any sense whatsoever lol...
