You don't seem to have much to say about it, just curious if you care so much about helping the people in Iraq why you don't seem bothered by this...After all the reason we're there is to 'help' them, right? Helping them isn't killing a crowd of innocent people because of one person with a gun.
I didn't put very much faith in anything this dude had to say. SURE, our mission was to gun down civilians. That's why there are service people doing time today for acting like that. He's basically talking a line of shit in order to get a stage.
By the way, I know exactly what he meant........no need for discussion.

An example:
Today she is home again, cooking by a sunlit window, sleeping beneath her favorite wedding picture. And yet, she and her family are remarkably alone. The half-dozen other apartments in her building echo with emptiness and, on most days, Iraqi soldiers are the only neighbors she sees.

Didn't he state that every apartment building in Bagdad was destroyed?

I think he was referring to the initial invasion and entry into Iraq, hence the whole he deserted because he didn't believe in going back to fight for the lost cause...
I'm sure things have been reconstructed now...$80 million a day to Iraq I'm sure they've rebuilt all sorts of things by now. I think if things were legitimate he would've stayed in the military, it sounded to me like the only reason he went is because he needed money. Also, I don't think the military desertion rate would be the highest it ever has been if these soldiers were fighting a 'just' cause..whatever that may be.
And when you have so many young individuals like me who would love to defend my country, and my freedom if it so happens that our shores are invaded; however going to Iraq due to a draft will be the LAST thing that I do. I will move to canada and live illegally for the rest of my life if I have to, but I will not go into Iraq, ever. Because that has absolutely nothing with defending my country and defending my freedom. Those fuckers don't have the capability to invade our country, so I don't know why the fuck we're worried about that...That's a threat that can be stopped, we cannot stop them from having friends at airports and smuggling things onto airplanes, and us teaching them to fly in america.
