It could have been an ayahuasca vine. Amazonian shamans used Ayahuasca for some incredible introspective journeys at a strength comparable to peyote. It also could have been beladonna berries, and I'm sure there's some hallucinogenic "trees" that we haven't heard of; maybe even some that only existed in the story.Quote:

im not sure i as under the impression that ayahuasca was actually a mix of plants that mostly consisted of one or more species of banisteriopsis. it is possible that datura was mixed as to it being native from n.america down to northern brazil. but on that same token so was ipomoea and lophophora.
