I fucking hate the Phelps family and that "church" with a passion... I first heard about them years ago when they were on the news once, they've been on many times. And "rev." leon phelps is one of the most hated men in the nation. Fuck 'em make the bastards pay up and if it bankrupts them so be it. A freind of mine who was in the services once said he'd be willing to go to prison for putting a bullet in that mans head.

I might have misunderstood the article, but from what I gathered the soldier being buried wasn't even gay. The reason these idiots protested this funeral, and protest as many other soldier funerals as they can, is because they view all of the American deaths in Iraq as a punishment from god for this country "enabling fags," as they so eloquently put it.

You know, I'd imagine there's quite a bit of inner conflict for other Christian conservatives regarding the actions of Phelps and his cronies. As "patriotic" and "supportive of the troops" as they like to make themselves out to be, you would think they'd all be really enraged by some senile bastard going around completely shitting on the memories of soldiers who died for this country. However, you can rest assured that for a lot of Christian conservatives homophobia will win out over common decency, and they'll come out and say something like "You might disagree with Phelps but we have to protect freedom of speech and religion no matter what, and besides he does have a point about those fucking fags, err I mean, homosexuals."

Ah, the control of religion. I can't imagine it being any more obvious.

So what you are saying is that Phelps is a hypocrite and a poor representative of Baptists in particular and Christianity in general? I agree. I also agree that whatever body governs his particular denomination needs to take him in hand and shut his mouth before he gives every Baptist a bad name.

How great would it be if somebody organized a massive protest at this Phelps guy's funeral whenever he croaks, or the next funeral for someone close to Phelps and his cronies. You could invite anybody (heterosexual or homosexual) disgusted by Phelps' actions to show up and give the bastard a taste of his own medicine. I mean could you imagine the looks on their faces if you had a bunch of gays and lesbians protesting and being as flamboyant as they could be while they're trying to hold a funeral? I think it'd be pretty damn funny.
