i used to DJ like 4 Years ago but to my friends never to to a crowd.. i used to be into raves and shit like that.. so i asked my family to pitch in and buy me a dj set.. they didnt get me the best stuff but i got a gemini set which is good for beginers. so i was into Hardcore techno at first, and then i did chicago House for a bit.. but my favorite and the one genre i still spin today is Jungle, drumm n bass, raggea jungle or "Ragga Jungle".. and i got into scratching asswell it ended up blowing the motors on my turntables after a few months.. but i managed.. but a year ago i baught myself another much better set.. i baught some techniques and a vestax mixer (scratch mixer) and they sit in a coffen scratch style, meaning the left side is at the bottom and the right is at the top..but now its in my closet again.. ill take it out 1 day...

word yo i have 2 technics 1200 mk2's sitting right next to me i have a studio of sorts in my room i scratch stuff into songs i make all the time. they are extremly expensive but there extremly fun if u can stick with them and get good at scratching and mixing im mostly a bedroom dj but i've done like 3 partys for local friends partys. it is fun as hell when u have a full dance floor all just dancing to your mix and the fun stress of trying not to stall in ur set. i would def say get decks if u can afford and if u can really stick with them. they are a money pit but a def a fun thing to play with.
i love to just scratch at night to a real ill slow beat with the lights off and the lava lamp on
if u get decks make sure u get the good stuff cuz my friend got lower level numarks and there is def a big differnece in performance dont let ur self get into thinking its a simple peice of machinery and they all pretty much the same cuz thats not true
the turn tables are jsut the start of the things u need
ur gonna need at least:
2 good decks
a good optical 10" mixer
Amp
speakers
tons of records
slip matts
needle cartridges
and DJ Q-Berts How to scratch vol 1
Well let's say I decide to do it. How would I go about getting all this? There are no shops around my area that I know of that would carry turntables or vinyls. I could try ebay for the turntables, but what about the other stuff? Any suggestions?
About speakers, are they a must? Can you use headphones? Is there a cheap way to do speakers? I don't want anything big. Just enough to do some personal DJ work. I really wish I had a Mac, that would rock.
sorry, i copied the url from the page he's on, but the site wont give an exact url. all the pages have the same one. Click on round two, then see the semi-finalists, then you have to click for Chicago. Shit, now that I think about it I still have the sample mix he sent in that got him in the contest..and I gotta give it to the boy, its tight:thumbsup:I dont even think he still has a copy of it:thumbsup:damn computer crashes really break it off and stick it in dont they..LOL. Think I may have to sell him a copy of his own shit back:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::jointsmile:Quote:

u dont have to know how to play an instrument to make music. thats what reason is for!! :D its simple, fun and when youre buzzed you may produce something close to beethoven!
