So my dealer tells me he just got some Purple Haze..
Liquid Magik makes excellent points here.
PH is extinct, if indeed it ever existed as a viable and true-breeding strain (doubtful).
There is a so called 'Purple HAze' on the market but it's a recent introduction SPECIFICALLY created to take advantage of nOObs who think that the name means it's ooooh so special... but as we know, fools and their money are easily parted.
Yet another example of putting too much emphasis on a name... would Purple Haze by any other name smell as sweet?
NOPE!

I've bought "purple haze" that was just really good weed. It wasnt even purple, it was just really good normal haze.

Five words. Washington Heights, New York City. If you know the right spots you WILL come across some purple. Purple bud with a high that seems to last forever, and a nice strong high.

It's no longer around, because while it was pretty, and technically a true purple - one who's colors are not brought about by temperature fluctuations - the other valued aspects of marijuana - flavor, smell, high - were found to be lacking in this phenotype. So people stopped growing it.
Weed is not 100x more potent now than it was previously. It has been proven you cannot increase the potency of a plant more than either one of it's parents. The potential power of a plant is a genetic imprint that cannot be raised. Lets say you have a Nothern Lights plant that you maxed out at 22% THC. Say you've grown a Haze female that hit 23% THC. You cannot cross a male and female from these breeds (max THC around 22-23%) and get a plant that will hit 30% THC. Weed seems more powerful now than previous, because previously, most growers were chucking seeds in the ground, watering them like any ol' plant, and letting Ma Nature take care of the rest. Now we have great growing resources, a lot more equipment and information to make indoor grows successful, and we have unlocked more of the plants' potential than had been do previously. So the plant didn't get stronger, our methods just got better.

Hahaha, weed is 100x stronger now? Nope. Back in the 70s when they did tests of marijuana potency, they didn't understand the effects of time and climate on the buds, so typically the THC was already breaking down before tests were even run. That fact, combined with a better understanding of cannabis and advanced growing techniques has boosted weed's potency to around 2x-3x the potency back then, at best.

I'm assuming he has something that is Purple Haze esque.
What should I be expecting from it?
if it's actually purple, expect to pay $40-60 more just because of that fact...
Never trust a dealer what they say something is, they just say what sounds interesting...I sold a guy one time what I told him was specifically 'cotton candy' I knew, because I knew the gentleman who grew it...I soon find out he was selling what I sold him to people I knew for $20 a gram and telling them it was 'blueberry kush'
trust me bro, as long as it gets you high enough for what you're paying for, buy it...but don't expect for it to be the same strain as which they tell you:thumbsup:
And for the record, purple haze has long been gone...there's certainly purple varieties now...but purple haze is something of the past :stoned:

that sounds legit.
why do people even act like greater potency is a problem?
isnt that good??

I frankly dont give a shit what strain it is......so long as its decent quality and gets you fucked up.
Lets leave it at that shall we?
EDIT: In fact there is a stickied post in the cannabis pictures forum to that effect http://boards.cannabis.com/cannabis-...lant-pics.html
Its speaks the truth.
