Yikesssssssss!!! One timer was not set correctly... one of three lamps stayed on!

Would not feel comfortable putting more than the power strip can take into it simply to make my life more convenient. Heck, I have one of those dual timers, and it clearly says to not even use two 1000 watt lamps... you would need one hell of a power strip to take all that power.

LT-4's are tough to find these days- I had to go thru several vendors last time I needed an LT-8.

NGW makes a similar unit.

Cap makes a " trigger relay", which uses 120v from your timer to trip either 120 or 240 relays built into a piggyback cord.

I'd def. centralize your lighting control- 1 room, 1 timer.

use 1 timer to control relays that turn the lights on and off. Real simple to do

from what ive learned, read, heard, and experienced (had a blackout during veg, along with a few other issues) the dedication to light cycle is critical during Flowering.
I was veggin 24-7, then switched to 18-6, then had the blackout during a storm for about 2-3 hrs. I re-set the timers to correct time and resumed the preset light cycle.

altho i had a variety of issues thru the grow, i cannot directly attribute any particular issue to that blackout, it was during veg, if i didnt say that before.

altho one oddball wildcard sativa did try to herm:wtf: (i gave a quick vasectomy and isolation, and he/she recovered, no more nanners:D), i believe that was due to heat or crowding. she's been kinda finicky froom the start anyways.
my Thai girl is doing very well, (seeds from the archives, long story) prolly another 3-4 wks and she'll be done, and prolly real stick too.:jointsmile:

and as to your timer(s), with 3, 1kwatters, you can prolly afford the right equip.
i would buck up and get the badassed single timer to handle the load,,,if i had that situation and the doh.

Unless you are worried about heat, there is no problem. It takes more than a couple hours to screw stuff up. With 1000 watters I would be worried about my house catching on fire if the ventilation stopped and the lights were on. Power owtages are a major concern where I live, and my entire system is set up around them.

Can you elaborate please? How could I set my room up for a power outtage? I usually am home at night, but I'll be honest I have had night mares of the ventilation going off and the temps just getting way way too high possibly even starting a fire. Please explain further how you do this.

The easy, not so safe fix is to have your lights and your ventilation on the same power strip or relay. That way if the ventilation goes off for some reason, the lights probably will too. The better way to do it is to have your lights on a thermostat mounted on the wall of your grow area. You may have to do some searching to find thermostats rated for 1000 watts, but I know they are out there. Set the thermostat at something like 100 degrees, or whatever yoiu think your plants can take. If the ventilation goes off, the temps will soon soar and the thermostat will turn the lights off. And of course, if the power goes out your lights will turn off anyway.

As far as the plants, I use a spray setup where most of the roots are exposed to nothing but air untill the sprayers come on. If I knew I would have no issues with power outages, I would have all of the roots exposed to air. But in this non-perfect world, I keep about 15% of my roots in nutrients at all times. (Kind of like DWC.) So when the power goes out for 18 hours my plants won't die of thirst.

Nothing real technical. Just keep in mind there will be power outages at every stage of designing and building your setup, and plan accordingly.
