Heinlein's great, Card's great, Dick IS A MAD GENIUS, Hebert's good (though Dune is really the only "must read" by him), Zelazny is certainly worth reading, and Le Guin's sci-fi is alright (her fantasy is better).
"The Stars My Destination" by Alfred Bester.
"Enders Game"
That book is beyond amazing, it will change your life.
The Martian Chronicles--Ray Bradbury
Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy--Douglas Adams
Cheers

Enders Game- Orson Scott Card (the whole Ender and Bean series are real good)
Enchantment- Orson Scott Card
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series- Douglas Adams
The Dune books
Anything from Raymond E. Fiest
If you have not read any of the following do so immediately:
1984-George Orwell
Fahrenheit 451-Ray Bradbury
A Clockwork Orange-Anthony Burgess
A couple more for the list,
Poul Anderson
Ira Levin

I think the rest of my favorites are already listed.
