Metal does rule..ENTER INTO THE REALM OF SATAN! Been listening to alot of slayer, sepultura, bathory, celtic frost, cradle of filth, electric wizard, old metallica, and black sabbath of late. Digging Sweet Leaf at the moment, what a great song.
Having Opeth as your avatar is not enough for this thread! I must correct this mistake.
OPETH RULES!
slayer, lamb of god, morbid angel, cannibal corpse, hatebreed are some of my favs.
behemoth,kataklysm,kalmah,superjoint ritual rock hard too.
I love heavy metal, my all-time favorite type of music. I really can't get into most of this new stuff coming out of the US though, so much is just drek. My favorite classics are Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Slayer... used to have Megadeth on that list but I'm kinda bored of them now.
With the newer stuff I personally think the best is coming out of Europe. Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Amon Amarth, Lacuna Coil, Dimmu Borgir to name a few.
That's awsome Ghosty, I love Tool and Isis! Haven't seen either live, but I'd sure love to. I especially want to hear my favorite Isis song, Dulcinea, live. Did Tool play 10,000 Days (Wings pt.2)? That could infinite potential for visual effects, I find it's a total mindtrip (especially when I'm high) as is.Quote:

YES! I love heavy music, of all kinds.
Not a bad band on the myspace page either. I do agree with what someone said though, the guitars/music sound too much like L.O.G., and the vocalist sounds is too gritty and distorted for my liking. I'm picky about vocals though. Too much sounds like same these days. ;)
I enjoy some 80's stuff. I don't mind Iron Maiden, as a guy at work listens to it all the time, so I do too. It's not bad, but nothing I'd ever buy myself.
I'd have to say Pantera got me into heavy music for sure when Vulgar Display came out. I remeber my older bro listening to it from downstairs, and I wasn't allowed to listen to it for its "bad words" as I was young. When I got older though, I bought their CD's, and of course that got me into Slayer, and even early Metallica (pre-Black Album).
I do enjoy some of today's heavy music, or metal, whatever you want to call it. I too enjoy Lamb of God very much so. Along with Children of Bodom, Unearth, 3 Inches of Blood, Burnt by the Sun, Down, stuff like that. Too many to name.
I also have been writing songs and playing in a band with 3 other guys. My main influences and the first thing our vocalist said to me that my playing style and sound, reminded him of Tony Iommi and Dimebag. Not that I'm comparing myself to them, but that's where my style came from along with my own originality as well.
Take care.
I can't take the new Between the Buried and Me CD out of my CD player. Everyone needs to check it out.
