That's not true. Your brain keeps growing until late adolescence or early adulthood. One it reaches that point, brain cells quit reproducing. When they die, they're gone for good. They can form new neurological pathways, but not new cells. This is coming from my dad, an anatomy and physiology professor who literally wrote the book.

As for every day life killing brain cells, yeah, I'll agree. I dunno about hundreds of thousands of brain cells dying. Maybe thousands or tens of thousands, maybe hundreds. I'm not really sure. There are several things in life that kill your brain cells. Who's to say cigarettes don't kill brain cells by depriving them of oxygen?

I do take the cannabis smokers' side on the issue. But I do also know from personal experience you can smoke yourself stupid. Smoke at least a quarter a day for a few months, and you will not be as smart as you were a few months ago. You may not notice dramatic IQ changes or anything, but you won't be as smart. Now I am an every day smoker and don't believe I'm getting any dumber by the day. I pace myself now and enjoy smoking just as much. But I believe smoking mass quantities every day for long periods of time will make you dumb. But if you like smoking that much and ain't got nothing better to do, f*#@ it, smoke.

the chemicals in marijuana attach to something in our brains called cannabinoid receptors, they do not attach to brain cells because there's places in our bodies for them to go

alcohol kills brain cells, and alcohol can absorb into any cell in the body...causes far more damage than marijuana does, that's for sure..

If marijuana killed a significant number of brain cells, doctors would not be prescribing it to their patients without mentioning it. Luckily, the medical community knows this myth is a bunch of horseshit.

If your classmate brings this up again, mention the doctors. In several states and foreign countries, marijuana is legal for medical purposes, and nowhere do doctors warn their patients that they could lose brain function or become brain dead. Why? Because no responsible doctor would ever prescribe something that did that, and if they absolutely had to they would inform their patient about the risk. twentE, i dont mean to question u or your dad or anything but i have been reading allot of research papers online about how brains actualy never stop reproducing, they just slow down once adulthood is reached i will see if i can find the site where i read those, i have allot to do today so i might not get around to it but if i have a lil spare time ill see if i can find um,

my thought on the whole brain cell frying is this, i am 23 i have been smoking the holy herb since i was 12 and i smoke quite allot, i continue to learn and i love to learn i am no dumb fuck who just smokes weed all day and has no ambition, i want to go to college to become an organic chemist if i ever have the money and a steady job, i read all the time and i like to read im definately not stupid i am actualy qite bright if i do say so myself (not when it comes to spelling but hey that what god made spellchecker for right :D)

all in all im smart and very ambitious and weed is a big part of my life and does not affect me in any negative way that i can think of,

Actually this isn't entirely true. Scientists believe that there is one area in the brain that reproduces brain cells after the adolescent stage that you're talking about. I think it's the hippocampus but I'm not entirely sure. I know we discussed it in my AP psychology class though and read some article on it. But it's just this one area of the brain.
