We want to hear about your adventures on this ominous trail.....
the trail was hard.i didnt make it all the way to whitney
at first i felt kinda depressed cuz i hate failing at things i do
even though i was suffereing it was beautiful and so peaceful
i lasted only 7 days and did about 60 miles
so many things came into play like the sun.it can really drain you
all day just beating down on you.another thing is eating.after
a full day of hiking you really cant eat.its different then when
you can go home.your body needs food but its hard to eat
that was a problem for me.i got bad cramps.fuckin things hurt like hell
all that was not as bad as the lonliness.that is the thing i need to train
during the hike i met nothing but older folks.im 30 and i was like the youngest hiker
everyone i met that was soloing old like retired age.all day long and at night
i would just think and think and think.it got to the point where all i could
do was think that i should spend my vacation with my kids instead of walking
thru the woods all alone.i spent days without seeing anyone or talking.that was weird
but looking back it was good.i felt calm inside.too calm i wasnt used to it
im going to train better and learn more about how my body works in those situations
and i need a hiking partner cuz its no fun to have fun alone.
Props to you anyway, you made it much further that I would have. Not having a hiking partner would be tough because I would have been talking to myself. I love the summer and hot weather but I need access to cold cold air conditioning as well. Never mind all the other creature comforts and lack of technology.
I know how much you like hiking so maybe with a little more training and when the weather turns, you can find a little hottie who likes to hike and the two of you can do it together.
buddy, good to hear about your 7 day trek...
you just gotta find your speed, and style man... it's all good. i like to hike for a few days and then base for a day... i my body doesn't have alot of cartilage where it should, lol
but i don't do as well either without my mp3 and solar pack... i know i'm lame... but WELL worth the investment, entertainment like music is so precious on travel. I also write ALOT in my down time due to my brain going about 100000000000 mph on trail.
do you have any pictures?
Sounds like a nice trek....definitley a good time to get in tune with your body and nature..it is never a failure if you have done your best..good job..
Sometimes we need solitude. But we are not accustomed to it, and it becomes lonely.
You were a champ to make it 7 days alone and not lose your mind :)
