At some time during your employment you must have been given a copy of the companies "drug testing policies". What you need to know should be in there.
At the company I work for, not retail or fast food, if I am off work for more than 90 days I have to take a physical and a drug test before I return to work. It doesn't matter why I was off work.
Always get copies of company policies when hired and not just drug testing policies.

People are way too paranoid about drug tests now-a-days. If you broke your shoulder there should be absolutely no need for a drug test, do they think you were high when you broke it? As for your parents finding out, I know this is an adult website so you must be over 18. If your parents give you a hard time about it you should stop smoking or do it behind their back and respect their rules for smoking in the house and such.
As for sueing your doctor, I don't think that will be necessary. My doctor knows I smoke marijuana and it's always best to be 100% honest with your doctor. My doctor never said anything to my parents back when I was younger. By law the doctor cannot tell anybody if you say not to. Also, you cannot get into legal trouble by telling your doctor you smoke marijuana. If you tell your doctor you've been a daily user of heroin or something expect a more serious reaction.

There is something called HIPPA that protects patient confidentiality. I would be happy if my doctor illegally released my medical records to unauthorized persons. Then I could sue the fuck out of him and be 100 percent sure to win thanks to HIPPA.
