Ive never dissected a whole animal but I have dissected a pigs heart.
I can't even dissect bugs. We were supposed to do a pig in Grade 8 science but I got to be excused from the class. Unfortunately I came back in just as the teacher was trying to pull the knee socket apart and the sucking noise it made haunted me for a long time.
I find theatrical gore very entertaining, but the slow, methodical stuff like surgery videos and such I just can't handle - unless I'm the one who's hurt. Personal gore has no effect on me - I'm rather cheerful when I have blood pouring out of a headwound or a nasty gash or burn.
Only a few times in school. During camping though i have cut up my own meat. Oddly enough the only time i find it emotionally disturbing is when it comes to fish. I always have a hard time hurting fish for some reason. Go figure.
I've lost count of how many I've dissected! I've raised chickens (chicken dinners). I was a bio major first time around in college and the lab assistant. As a kid I fished a lot, and Dad was too squeemish to clean his own fish! Second time around in college, I was a psych major, but did work/study as the bio lab assistant (again). They had a freezer full of dead critters waiting for processing. I skinned them, and stuffed them, cleaned up the skulls, preserved their organs, etc. (Incidentally, they were road kill- no animal was killed for our collection.)The freezer was empty by the time I left school. Even stuffed a skunk! (bio smells don't bother me much- but some chemical make me feel ill!) Being a shameless pagan, I thank each animal for their gift to me and then dissect/butcher them without any hassle.- Granny:hippy:
im not jeffrey dahmer but i find it interesting. i like to see and understand how the organs works.
When i lived in BC i dissected a huge coho salmon, that was pretty cool. Cant say i've dissected anything else, but i guess i have to cut up the fish i catch to eat..
i dissected a pig once. i got extra credit because my partner and i were the only group to get the brain out successfully. it was an interesting experience.
I disected a pig fetus my senior year of high school, it was fucked up.
