Don't mess around- go for a REAL light.
Your lumens per watt is maximized with a HID light.
Get a good 600 HPS for flower, or at the MINIMUM a 400. Anything smaller is a waste of time and money for a grow of that size. You will be seriously disappointed with flouros.
This is very true. Don't take it lightly. You will be dissapointed if you don't use at least 400 watts. I suppose you could get 400 watts of red spectrum flouros, but for about the same price you could just do it right and get an HPS and the ventilation it requires. 400 watts of fluourescent light gets pretty warm too. You will need some good fans and ducts.Quote:

OK, here's where we diverge.Quote:

#1 Meds flowered with CFL's are disappointing compared to those flowered with HID, but they ROCK, when compared with no meds at all.
#2 You can get a cheap used 400 to 100W HID light for around $50 on craig's list (around here at least) if you wait for a good deal.
#3 A 200 Watt, multi CFL setup will cost about $40 if you buy all the parts new. You can start TODAY. Then you have 30 to 60 days in veg, to save up for a REALLY good HID setup.
Flowering under CFL's is not ideal, but if done properly, they can grow you some nice medicine.
Six kids and he needs something to occupy his time? :wtf: Your man must be one hell of a good organizer. ;)Quote:

i have not found that to be the case at all i set up a side room just big enough to put a 20 gal rubber maid tub and wired well shit i'll just show u here's the pics now u tell me cfl's don't work.and as far as "but it takes a lot of care and attention to detail" not really i filled it with 10 gals of water put nutes in and off they went and iv'e noticed that the ones under the cfl's are a nice darker green as the others under the 1000 watt light hps is a lighter green the ones u see in the pics are 3 weeks old from seed so yes with the proper amount of cfl's i think u can grow damn good plants as iv'e also done tomato watermelon peppers and carrots like this and there nice a big as well i have 4/ 42 watt/150 and 2 / 24 watts as u can see in the pics i wired them up myself cost me close to 50 bucks for all the stuff and there doin damn good if u see i made a lil slider platform for the 2 24's so when the plants are small i can still get the lights close and still have the big ones over head as needed and when the plants grow i move the lower lights to the smaller plants so they get enough light hope this helps
These are the plants the day we added more coil lights and the make shift fixture my b/f rigged together.... I'll post pics of them no so you can see the difference it made. We already pulled 2 confirmed males... the rest so far seem to be females. Considering it's bagseeds i think they look awesome!! My friend, who is a hardcore toker took the clippings and dried them and smoked it.She said even though it was leaf and not flushed it was better than the budget she's been smoking...
I have one more after these....
