See thats the way the White Man did it. He sold the indian whisky and when they got drunk and became rowdy the Missionaries said: "see what heathens they are".

Theres traces of mescaline in some cactus aside from peyote. Mescaline is not really a buzz it's more like taking LSD. Most of the cactus species, however, have such a small amount of mescaline that you would have to eat alot of cactus to feel any kind of effects. And for most species like pterocereus gaumeri if you ate enough cactus for a adequate dosage of mescaline you would probably overdose and get really sick or worse due to the presence of other alkaloids and terpenes.
trichocereus pachanoi is a common landscape cactus in southern united states and contains about 0.1% mescaline so if you ate a decent quantity of cactus (probably about 6-12 inches) you would likely feel mild hallucinogenic effects. There many different proposed methods of preparation on the internet but my guess is that eating a cactus is probably not to tasty.

San Pedro is a Peruvian cactus that grows high in the Andes and has been used in folk medicine by the native people and has been consumed in large quantities by humans so if you have the right species you could probably eat it without killing yourself. I remember my Spanish professor at Junior College She was from Peru, and live in Lima.
So much I learned about South American Culture from her. She told me when she would go to high elevations in the Andes they would take coca leave and make tea which would keep them from losing consciousness at the altitudes. So San Pedro has been was an importand ingredient in some South American hallucinogenic drinks like "cimora".

Peyote and other hallucinogenic cactus can make you very ill if you don't eat the right amount and the Native Americans had developed their drinks over generations and generations. So thats why you need to be careful cause you dont want to have a bad trip and end up in the emergency room.

See Marijuana is not a fucking narcotic like the government is trying to lable it as. It stimulates the central nervous system and depresses your mind at the same time. Plus theres so many other compounds in marijuanna aside from THC. I would lable marijuana as an intoxicant. Thats one of the down falls of chronic weed smoking is that it may fuck up your nervous system.

"They dedicate their lives
to running all of his
he tries to please them all
this bitter man he is
throughout his life the same
he's battled constantly
this fight we cannot win
a tired man they see...
the old man the prepares
to die regretfully
that old man is me."
