LOL - You are going to need nutrients no matter how you grow.Quote:

well U can but it is not good to do so.
I did and it worked ok. but if I had used hydro nuts insted of soil nuts then my clones would have grown better.
and I didn't use any rooting stuff on my clones eather.
the air stones made the water bubble a lot lot of small air bubbles.
and the air bubbles R what make the roots grow. they give the roots oxagen thus maken them grow big and strong.
here is a drawing I made of how the roots grow better with an air stone in the watter. the small bubbles give the roots lots more oxagen and it makes the plant grow bigger and faster.
thnks really helpful nd ur a good teacher nd artist mah man...and take a look at the improvements ive made to mah grow box...;p

DWC= Deep Water Culture. DWC setups are very efficient, I have done much experimenting with this type of set up. What I found I liked was I took some of those tubes of lays chips (kinda like the pringles tube, but plastic), cheap aquarium air pump, some air line, air line splitters (dont split the line so many times that you burn up your pump) and hydroton. With these ingredients put together in the proper fashion, I had a 90%+ success rate making clones. No nutes, no hormones, just tap water.
I highly reccomend using DWC for cloning. I've never done a plant all the way through in a DWC set up however, but I've seen countless posts of beautiful plants grown in this manner.
