T5's are great for early stages of plants.. but to use T5's the entire life of the plant will produce... mediocre results. However, if you can get specific spectrum bulbs for your T5 fixture, you'll do much better.
HiD is the way to go! But you must weigh out the circumstances and be sure that you are able to safely and properly setup HID without problems.
Cheers,
Bob.

I happen to be budding with my new 8 tube T5 , 4 bulbs blue 4 bulbs red. This is my first try at using the low heat T5 set up.. One month into it and they look fantastic. Heat was a huge problem with the 400w HPS in a small tight area. I was hoping these would solve my problems and so far so good.

Hey thanks man, how many lumens does yours put out? Your setup sounds badass man, keep up the good work, what you growing?
The hps was my first choice also, but the heat and no real ventilation forced me to t5's...but they look promising and IM really excited man

Well I guess 32,000. Blue bulbs are rated 6400 and red at 3000. I'm Growing an old affy strain that I bummed off a vetran grower. I'm tempted to slip the other 4 red bulbs in but that would drop my lumens some, and my girls really do look good so i'ma leave it. I been thru overheating problems. light leakage problems, bugs, manual light timer failed, (digital now) Getting it dialed in is fun tho,, good luck man!

Excellant choice on the T5's. I got a 4' 4 tube several weeks ago to keep a few mothers under and I love it. Nodes are staying closer than with the T8's. I think I'll get another one in a couple of cycles.
