I agree your facts are kinda crappy.
I'm not a PETA member, I can't think of a good reason why humans shouldn't use wool, or have pets provided the animals are well taken care for.
But do I think we need animals to test cosmetics on? Or skin for fashion?
No.
Do I think the modern practices of factory farming are disgusting and lead to both unnecessary cruelty and inferior product to the consumer?
Yes.
I'm glad PETA is around to push the envelope on these ethical issues though...
If it is natural for other animals to eat each other (I.E. lion killing gazelle), what is so inhumane about killing other animals to eat (I.E. Cows for beef). I don't think animals should be tortured, but PETA goes way too far, just like every political organization and party in the U.S.
P.S. I am a proud hunter.
See peta has realized that people are going to eat meat. They pick their battles. But they at least want you to be informed. If you could choose how your meat dies wouldnt you want it to be as least painful as possible? The people who say the really extreme things peta kinda pushes to the sides. I know that on the boards when those people show up we ignore them there. Just like every organization ever, there is always a few a-holes who have to ruin it for everyone. Sure in a perfect world no one would eat meat, the testing would stop and the use of animals for their skins would end. But we know we cant stop all of that overnight. I assure you that they are much rational than you know.
Yeah most of that is bullshit or half-truth. I live in Norfolk and I know a lot of people that work there. I'm not involved with peta, it's not my thing, but I do know the way they do things. Peta donates food to my organization Food Not Bombs and verteranary offices and homeless shelters around here, and when they "kill animals" it's only because they are sick with no fighting chance. They don't just randomly kill animals and throw them in dumpsters(except for that one time, yeah I saw that). And most of the employees there DO have pets and bring them to work with them.
well here's PETA publicly speaking out about march of dimes:
We Oppose March of Dimes Animal Tests
looks who's on trial for animal cruelty:
Press Release | PETA Employees Face 31 Felony Animal-Cruelty Charges for Killing, Dumping Dogs
"If it were a retarded baby and a bright dog, I'd save the dog."
-Tom Regan, Q&A session following a speech, University of Wisconsin-Madison, October 27, 1989.
from peta.com FAQ:
How can you justify the millions of dollars of property damage caused by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF)?
"Throughout history, some people have felt the need to break the law to fight injustice"
ya those videos that show how they treat the chickens and pigs and cows etc. make me want to stop eating meat :(
I probably will some day
THE ALF IS NOT INVOLVED WITH PETA! WTF ont he site we do NOT condone violence! We want peaceful protests! I have done countless protest for peta! And the march of dimes thing is true to a degree. Alot of testing is done that ends up producing nothing! We know more about the anatomy of monkeys than we do about humans! And again, EVERY ORGANIZATION HAS A FEW ASSHOLES! Those are the people who did that felony bullshit.
Yo 420 you should bust out the hard evidence: The South Park episode with P Diddy.
Like theres other alternatives to animal testing that would produce much more humane and more fufilling results, PETA Media Center > Factsheets > Alternatives: Testing Without Torture
